I'm pretty sure Scott could provide more offense against a leftie then Burke.

Yeah, THAT'S a chore...finding people who are better hitters than Chris Burke.

Lance has to know when the ump is telling him to get back in the dugout, he needs to get in the fucking dugout.

what happened? my two radio stations are carrying the aggie game, and the "Brazos Bombers" of the texas colliegate league

Breaker up and in, around the letters, for strike 3 (Lance RH). Lance is pissed, starts giving the ump lip. Ump points to dugout, Lance steps up, Lee gets in between. Garner runs out, collects Lance, who then yells over his shoulder and gets the hook.

Garner gets his moneys worth, tossed as well.
Oye. Vamos, vamos.

Lance got rung up on a ball that was clearly high. He bitched the ump out over the call, not doing it the discrete way. Lee pulled him out and Gar came to get him, and he turned and gave it one more yell on his way back to the dugout. That's when he got tossed. Not using his head at all. Gar then got himself tossed on principle.

Thanks to JD for alerting me to it...Chris Sampson is in fact 2nd in the majors (before tonight) in fewest pitches per inning.  Only some schmuck rookie (Greg Maddux) is lower.

But, of course, Sampson's stuff isn't very good and he doesn't have much of an arm, so I'm sure we'll trade him or have him fight for the 5 spot again next season.

And he did a magnificent job protecting that 2-1 lead the offense got him in the 4th.

No way Berkman shoulda got tossed unless he used one of the unmentionalble words.

Good job, Rookie!  Seems like Pence either strikes out or doubles lately.

Negative.  "pwned" is an automatic DQ for the Stubing.

I didn't get a replay of his baserunning but did wonder how the fuck he was not on second after all that.

Wow, that guy Russ wasn't too far off. The White Sox are at least as bad as the Astros. Not assuming this will translate into an Astros win in any way, you understand, it's just surprising to see a team as fucking stupid as the Astros are.

He captained a large pleasure boat. It'll make a whole hell of a lot more sense when you actually see the thing. Maybe when Waldo gets back.

Burke to CF, Loretta to 2b, Lamb to 1b?

And how amazing is it to see a team with worse fundamentals than the Astros?  Oh wait, they have a certifiably insane asshole managing them.  Cancel my surprise.

I'm getting tired of Berkman's antics. That opinion may earn the scorn of many here, but it is getting ugly. Frustration is tough, but there is no excuse for whining like that. There are ways professionals can let their disappointment in a call show without making it a huge issue.

The umpiring behind home plate in major league baseball has been AW-FUCKING-FUL.

That being said, Berkman needs to calm it down a bit.

Although, I can somewhat see where he is coming from in his frustrations. He has been scuffling, and getting butt-fucked by some slapdick umpire along with losing a lot of your power and a ton of your average is, I'm sure really frustrating.

However, getting tossed just hurts the team.

No doubt about it. I didn't see the call tonight, just the results. I trust it was a rather bad call.

Really, it is unfair to compare anyone to Bagwell. He is a very rare breed of person, but I miss him. He had some tough stretches for a long time, but he could let the ump know he didn't like the call without jumping up and down and forcing the umps hand. Most umps, not all, would let a comment be made quietly and might give you a borderline call out of respect....or not. It doesn't matter, though. Like you said, Lance is hurting the team.

Now 15th in the NL in ERA.  Only 8 other non-aces-of-their-staff ahead of him.  But I'm sure his mechanics aren't that good and he doesn't have a high K/9IP so it's back to the minors or possibly Sears shoes with him.

Earlier this evening I was about to post a message that said "I love pitchers that throw strikes." I was literally 1/2 second from hitting the old "Post" button when Iguchi launched a Sampson strike into the left-field bleachers.  Because I'm weak and worthless, I killed the post.  But I still think Sampson is extremely valuable to this club.

Talking of who is the closer....

The Astros have more faith in Lidge right now, even if he isn't the "closer". He's coming in to shut down the Sox when they need him, not when the official save is on the line. If Brad can put the pressure on by getting the bigger hitters, like tonight, when there is a lead, I think that says more than saving him for the bottom of the order and the save.
It's my estimation that every man ever got a statue made of 'em was one kinda sombitch or another.

Shit, the Yankees beat the Pirates. Losing to the Pirates would have put the NY media into full melt-down mode.

Clemens makes his last minor league start against the Pirates tomorrow.

And what is a hip flexor?

Don't know for sure, but I'm guessing a tendon that connects one of the big thigh muscles to the pelvis.

I was referring to the final pitch of the inning, one of those can't-not-swing sliders that the hitter has no chance of making contact with because it ends up in the dirt.

No, I was just trying to figure.  4 days in a row, throwing to Munson, I was thinking he was just keeping it simple.  Fastball looked good, except for the control.
