Are the D-backs just going to rip off every uniform the Astros have had since 2000?  Give me a break.

They should totally have ripped off the unis from the 70's and 80's.

Biggio takes a strike, pitchout-nothing doing, pickoff as PENCE!!! dives back, Bidge takes another strike, another pickoff, next pitch fouled back, 1-2 count, ball, slider bounces away as PENCE!!! steals second, full count, Bidge Ks.

2-2 going to the bottom of the 6th.

I'm going to say something really terrible that I can't believe I'm about to say.

If Craig Biggio wants to get #3000 as a Yankee or Cardinal or Rockie...he may now do so.

Coming into this game, he was 1-21 against Webb, and 15-40 against Livan.  But since tomorrow's a day game....

This befuddles me.

curve in the dirt, 1-2
FB high, didn't chase, 2-2
FB high and outside, full count

Even though the handoff would take some time, the throw would get there faster if Bidge caught it, handed the ball to AE, and let AE throw it to 3rd.

Yeah, sounds like the right call.  Plus, with Sampson on the mound, isn't bad to have Ensberg at third.  Or is that a Little League defensive mentality?

I looked up their numbers.  Ensberg hasn't hit Webb well in 14 PAs.  Lane and Scott have done better against Webb but in only 3 ABs, which probably isn't enough to go on.  But considering the advantage you get on defense by not having Berkman in the outfield, it's probably a toss up.

I never, even when threatening it, go to bed while an Astro game is on.  But this week of WC start times and this shit has left me no choice.

Good night.

Tomorrow, I wake up to the big news....Brad Ausmus...player...manager.

There hasn't been one of those since Pete Rose, has there?  Wonder what kind of a lineup card Ausmus would make out?

Ausmus 1b
Ausmus 2b
Ausmus 3b
Ausmus SS
Ausmus LF
Ausmus RF
Ausmus CF
Garner C
Ausmus P

That was Hunter Pence's 100'th official major league at-bat.  36 hits, 13 for extra bases, 4 HRs, 18 RBI.  Nice start young man, keep it up.
