The Golden Triangle time warner has a "secret" normally blank channel that often shows Rangers games with pure static instead of audio commentary (not a bad thing, though I do actually like Grieve). I was hoping it would be on tonight. No dice.

It's nuthin' nuthin' in the bottom of the second, one out, Pence on (walk), AE up.

The Astros don't quite have a hit yet, but it's early.

I'm here, but so is the husband, so he is playing PS2 on the TV.  I may not post alot, will go to the other room to watch the game.  I posted a link to astros.com on the TZ about Backe.  He had some soreness after simulated game.

Gads. I've never done PBP, but I do have a television. So I'll see if I can help out.

First inning was relatively uneventful, although Methuselah (Lofton) reached 3rd before Albers ended the inning.
Lance got dinged by an up-and-in fastball on the hands, but he seems to be ok.

T2 ended with Rangers' pitcher striking out with men on base.

B3:
Scott grounds out.
Pence walks.
Everett up, Pence thrown out trying to steal.
Everett strikes out.

0-0 after 2.

T3. Due up: Lofton, Young, Texeira.

Lofton: B, B, S (looking), B, ground ball to the statue at 2nd, infield hit. I swear that Lofton looks like Willy Mays Hays.

Ausmus visits the mound and asks (a la Wayne Graham): "Are you afraid to be out here? If so, I'll go get somebody who isn't."

Texeira: S, B, S (swinging on a slider), S (swinging on a slider).

1 out, still runners on 1st and 2nd.

Suck. Lamb just missed it, but it is what it is.

4-0 stRangers.

5-0 stRangers.

5-0 after 2 1/2.  Ouch.  The good news is that the stRangers pitching staff sucks.

My television downstairs has gone to shit. No picture. Just a blank screen. But the sound works so I still get a better play by play with Brownie and JD, than you do with Milo.

I guess tomorrow I break down and buy a fancy new flat HDTV thingy.

Well, they do that kind of thing in an exhibition game.

What? This game counts? No way, they're in the AL.

Borkowski in.

Tejeda: strikes out. Sorry, I missed the first few pitches.

Lofton: B, S (slider up), B (slider down), B (FB down), FB down the middle, Pence makes a run back to the hill and the ball bounces off his glove for a triple. Definitely could have been caught.

3 down.

Still 6-0 stRangers heading to the bottom of 5.  Unfortunately, TimeWarner has just realized that they weren't running commercials between innings, and they're making up for it now.

What?  Like you're not going to get a first pitch strike from a reliever coming in with the bases juiced?  No problem with swinging early there.

Looked like a good FB outside that Carlos rolled over on. If you swing at that pitch, shoot it to right. Let Sammy kick it around for a while like Harpo Marx.

Christ I hate Sosa. I guess it's safe to say that what the normal person feels about Bonds, I feel about Sosa. Frankly, I have a great deal less contempt for Bonds than Sosa. The only "Rangers Texas Rivalry" hype bullshit that remotely riles me up is the thought of Sosa hitting #600 in Minute Maid. I would rather cut myself than watch that.

Ausmus on the move, Loretta smashes the shit out of it right at the third baseman. Line out, doubles up Ausmus easily. Buzzard's luck.

Milo annoucing groups: "George Costanza and Friends. It doesn't say how large the groups are, but knowing George, it's probably a big group."

Wow. Whoever's doing this is obviously getting bolder and bolder. What will it take for Milo to wake up and realize it's a joke? Elvis Presley? Hell, he may not remember who's dead and who's not.

Berk with a puny dribbler that the 3B grabbed barehanded and threw him out on a close play, Lamb to third on another close play. Lee, first pitch swinging with the infield back, routine RBI grounder to short. Luuke with a can-o-corn to CF. 7-4 American League

On the other hand, I didn't know who Bruce Campbell is either.

Is there a running list of these on OWA? If not, there should be.

Small consolation: Sammy the Hippy-Hoppy Clown hasn't done anything tonight.

Didn't he have a 2-run double or something like that?

Bruce Campbell and Associates will be at the game tomorrow night.

There have been several loose attempts to collect these gems, but nothing concrete as far as I know. When you have a cherished grandparent that you know is not going to be around forever you try to spend as much time with them as possible. Same with Milo. We owe it to history to note these as thoroughly as we can.

Is it out of the question that PENCE!!! could hit a 3-run homer with no men on base?

Yes, you're right. I had managed to put that out of my mind.

Speaking of hits... Ensberg just might end up taking a shotgun blast to the brainstem when that happens. Bruce gets pretty damned twitchy around the walking dead...

I turned to channel 77 in Austin right before the game started... And for whatever reason, they were just running the above and behind home plate camera with the audio off.

Then suddenly, JD and Brownie were mike-testing, and I heard maybe the funniest thing I've ever heard in my ENTIRE life.

JD: Wow, look at those cowboy hats.
BB: Yup, everyone is wearing them.

JD: No Drayton. He doesn't have one on.
BB: Yeah, he's wearing some DORK hat!
JD: Hmmmm... Its a Baylor hat.
BB: Yeah, not a cowboy hat.

Then they yammered one for a few minutes before someone obviously had a "!" moment and turned the sound back off.
