Lewis walks on 5 pitches, most rather far outside

Roy concerned about speedy Lewis on 1st.  Throws high heat to Klesko to get ahead in the count then works low corners.  6-3 double play on 7 pitches.

Nice liner to left from the Vending Machine. Lincecum, the baby-faced assassin. Hopefully this'll turn out to be one of his rookie year off-days.

Luke cant figure out why the fans chant his name whenever Bonds comes to bat, but tips his hat nonetheless.

HGH owns Roy, 4 for 4 and 4 walks.  Infield shift, so HGH pops up to 3b Lamb at SS.  (ownership is overrated)

Molina.  Weak ground to 1B (another drinking game tonight, as if you need an excuse.)

JD - Roy's command is "less than steller so far"  but willing to throw curve more often early on.

It's been bugging me since his debut against Cole Hamels, but I finally figured out who Lincecum looks like.

Scott wonders why the kid that threw out the first pitch tonight is still on the mound.

High strike zone for the kid.  Sweet looping curve.  K on an outside fastball (96)

But can Lincecum hit?  Bats LH.  His dad must be proud. He actually has a pretty good swing.  Roy still struggling with control, but lays a nice low fastball in on the outside corner for a K.

Bidge is due for an elbow plunking isnt he?

What does it say when so many fastballs down the middle are just watched?  Looking for something offspeed?

K on a looping curve down the middle.  Guess not.

I didn't think there was any way the Astros would score a run off of this guy. Wow. This is a pitcher's duel for the ages.

I get it.

I don't think that counts.

I don't remember who it was, but in the 80s, some PBP guy would let the fans at home know about the no-hitter going on by saying "middle column" as they went to commercial.  I wish I could remember who that was.

You just can't Chip Caray it and blab on about the no hitter.  Dipshit.

This is not at all directed at LonghornLCDR but it is my distinct impression that Houstonians and Astros fans in particular spend far too much time worrying about what people in NY and Boston think about us.

Who gives a shit about whether the Astros are picked to win the division or if Roy O is one of the top 5 pitchers in MLB?

Relax, have a homebrew.  It's Texas.   :)

It's Texas.   :)

I agree. 100 PERCENT.

Feliz does the same to center.  The trick on Roy is not to hit it solid enough to reach an outfielder.

Lincecum has lost nothing as the game has progressed.  93 pitches

Luke F9 to deep right center.  Looked good off the bat

Lamb threw the double play ball to Luke, who tried to throw that ball back to Lamb, but bounced it passed Lamb (who had a fair chance to stop it) so the the runner who started from first towards a certain inning ending double play, scored.

Houston with only 2 hits.

Bidge sees nothing but sliders down and away for the first 5 pitches.  After a high inside FB fouled away, and a low outside fb taken for ball 3, he swings hard at ball 4 high.

Lee with a nice easy swing takes the pitch right back up the middle.  Berkman no chance to advance to 3rd.

I saw it only the once, but it looked like the catcher caught it belt high meaning it was high as it went through the zone. I didn't have a problem with the call.

This may be the worst overall crew I've seen since the Angel Hernandez All Stars.

Diaz couldn't find the outside corner or bottom of the zone for the first 7, now he's calling anything within 6 inches.

And remember when Jason Lane did stuff other than hit high pop ups? Me either.

Lidge in to get some work.  I'm looking forward to this.  5th in the lineup, do up 3rd in the bottom of the inning.

Feliz pokes one past Bidge for a single.  First hit for Giants since the 8th

What a post for #3001.

I have spent the year of 2007, so far, celebrating my youngest son's 6th birthday, my middle son's 12th birthday, being booted from the house we lived in for the last 5 years because the family asked us to take care of it, by the family that asked us to take care of it, being forced by the judge to make us still take care of it even though we can't live there, being sued a few times for taking care of the family estate even though we have to take care of the family estate without getting paid for it and we don't want to take care of the family estate, having my oldest son arrested...twice...but celebrating his new job and school accomplishments....and I can't watch the Astros much anymore....

Screw post 3001.

As a Texan courtesy, the Rangers have decided to play extras as well.  No advantage for them tomorrow.

Pressure situation for Lidge.  Winn hitting .319 and Giants hottest hitter right now.

Full count base hit to 1st.  Ball hit bag, bounced to Bidge who tossed to Lidge, but too late to catch Winn.

Giants take 2-1 lead.

Lidge beat Winn pure and simple with a full count, eats him up and all he can do is roll one down the line, and Winn gets that lucky bullshit bounce.

In fairness, Lidge threw Winn two fastballs that he fouled off that really should have been hit hard. He missed his location with both of them, especially the first. I don't know why Lidge was so reluctant to throw the slider to him. It's usually very effective against lefties.

Yup, that was confusing. Balls at the ankles have been called strikes tonight, and then that one wasn't.

But seriously, how many times do you see a ball hit a bag over the course of a year? Twice? Three times? And on the critical at-bat in extra innings? That's some serious bad luck. Not quite like having your son wreck your truck, but still not good.

Because Ensberg has a .0005 chance to hit a home run, while Loretta has a .00005 chance.

Like Mark said, you're not going to get two or three hits in the inning. Your only real hope is to accidentally hit one out. Even as bad as he is right now, Ensberg is more likely to hit one out than Loretta.

Garner had a hunch?

j/k

I would like a good answer to this.

Mo had a double off Armando and a strikeout. Now he has two. Strikeouts. 1-3 career.

Why PH Ensberg over Loretta?

Hoping to get lucky with a HR?
The odds of the offense stringing together several hits in its current state are painfully low.
Fluky bad hops or no, I don't know if they could score again even if this thing went 20.

a series won. Last game hurt, but....

ok it hurt.

Yeah, 2 out of 3 against the Giants is a good deal for the 'Stros, considering the way the Giants have manhandled them the last few years. Getting the win against Lowry yesterday was big.

Just a few feet from 2 game tying homeruns. I think Ensberg needs a live chicken.

I don't think "a few feet" is a reasonable description. They really weren't that close.

Where it crossed the pole is within 10 feet. Where it landed was much farther left.

The Cincy one wasn't as close, but still an exciting foul ball. Between this shot, the cincy shot and the line shot to the left fielder in the bases loaded Pittsburgh game, Ensberg has supplied some serious half second late game excitement.  That and a nichel gets you five cents and 3 losses.  Oh well.
