Now here's a woman with her priorities right

From the same article.

""I told someone the other day that I think I played here nine seasons and I've never had a curtain call yet," Berkman said. "I've never embraced that kind of excitement. But that's why it's great to have a guy that is that excited and that brings that kind of ernergy. "

So that's what Pence has.  Ernergy.  And lots of it.

So did anyone else have a problem with the curtain call?  Just wondering, because in the past some people on this board have had something to say about other teams and their curtain calls.  Bags is rolling in his gr....oh nevermind.

In theory, a 4th inning curtain call during a non-division game in the middle of May is completely ludicrous.  However, I don't know what effects ernergy might have.

I do know that the role of the rookie is to do stupid things as little as possible and the role of the veterans is to kick said rookies in the ass.

I didn't think we were cheering more than usual.  I thought he got it cause of the Chick-fil-A fowl pole.

I think maybe the older players on the bench got him to go out just to fuck with him (see if he would do it).  I wonder whose bag he carries at the airport?

I rather think they did.  It was odd when he came out of the dugout.

May as well see if the BBGs like this kid enough to allow him his hijinx at this level.  I think they will, I mean... who doesn't like a kid playing baseball with his hair on fire?  Oh, btw... last night, saw some really good things from him against Lowry.  Very good things.  But for the life of me, on his last at bat, Lowry threw him two straight breaking balls at his hands and Thunder pulled off those pitches something fierce.  Then Lowry threw him a fastball outside and T. Pants smoked it to right.

Why do they keep throwing this kid fastballs?

Who cares WHY they do it--just as long as they keep doing it.

Didn't Ken Caminiti get a curtain call during his first Major League game when he hit a homer and a triple?

And then he was prompty beaten in the shower by Denny Walling and Terry Puhl, who used nothing but his fists and a sock full of batteries.

It wasn't a complaint.  It was an curious observation... like when you see a car wreck and ask yourselve ("Hmmmm... I wonder WHY that person was driving on the wrong side of the road").  You know the answer of course.

Same thing here.

I remember Darlye Ward getting one for his opening day grand slam against the Brewers.

I've been wondering the same thing about Biggio for a couple years.

i thought the same thing about the curtain call. a sane rookie would have refused to do it.

Helloeva game by both staffs.  The difference hinged on Bonds whiffing on a hanging change and Pence crushing one.

Pence's nickname in the minors was "Bam Bam."  Apparently, there are several layers to that onion.

I have it on good authority that in Lexington he was called "Thunder", so us calling him "ThunderPants" is just the "grown-up" version of a former nickname.

Also in the minors, pence... (his minor league handle) was in Lex when a tradition of tossing the batting helmet into the stands after a homer was the norm.  The batting helmet returned with some cash.  The cash was then split into parts.  1 part for end of year team party, 1 part for charity, 1 part for player.  Don't know that they were equal parts.  I remember seeing a picture of Towles throwing his hat in the stands after a dinger.  Interaction with the crowd after a homer may be expected by PENCE!!!  Not saying the curtain call was called for but saying he may get a kangaroo court fine that says we do things different in the bigs.
Always ready to go to a game.
