Astros early season road record...
« on: April 19, 2007, 09:28:25 pm »
5-1 so far, which is a big improvement over the last few years.   Is the addition of Lee the difference?  Or just an early season thing with a small sample size.

If they can keep playing well on the road, that will go a long way towards winning the division/making the playoffs.

I think Lee has been a huge difference no doubt but the critical part has been just timely hitting. For example the past 2 nights have found late rallies in the 8th inning. Everett hit the big 2 run homer late in Chicago. Well, the Phillies series...they just suck. I think last year when trailing after 8 innings we were something like 1-80.
Make a runnnnnnnn!!!!

both of these wins berkman was able to to do something, and definitely the presence of lee is huge.  pitchers are now forced to pitch to berkman.  Compared to last year, men on base, walk berkman, and ensberg comes in, and more times than not, no runs score.

the last two nights already show what a difference having lee in the lineup can do.  when did anyone remember seeing astros comeback with an offensive explosion in an inning in two consecutive nights?

in my opinion, the numbers can only get more crooked because berkman doesn't look like he has much of a clue with his bat on either side of the plate so far.

Exactly, and let's not discount the contributions of the Reds' bully. Despite being lights out over the first 2 weeks of the season, they were throwing junk in the two games they faced the Astros. Houston simply did a good job of capitalizing, which is what good teams should do, but still it wasn't all the Astros' doing.

To answer the question, though, Lee has already proven himself to be a huge addition to this offense.
phew. for a minute there, I lost myself
