Question about AAA games
« on: April 08, 2007, 05:46:08 pm »
Looking at the PCL game results for the day.... some games go a full 9 innings, others only 7 innings.  Can someone explain how game length is decided?  Thank you.

ETA---The first game of the double headers were the ones to only go 7 innings. Apparently the game length was agreed upon when the doubleheader was announced.  Is this common?

Also--I am listening online to the RRExpress game.  Is the announcer Mike Capps?  Thanks.

yes, it's the norm in the minors and college baseball. unless the first game is the continuation of a suspended game from the day before, both games are seven-inning affairs.

JaneDoe, you can watch every RR home game online for the low low price of $6.95 for the season.

yep, that's Capps.

He blows Milo and friends out of the water.  Wish we could call him up and send them down.  Milo's out of options, but he would easily make it through waivers.

I can listen for FREE.  Between watching my 3 son's baseball games, I have a hard enough time just watching the Astros.  I have yet to actually watch an entire Good Guys game this season.

yeah but if you have the time to listen to the Capps radio broadcast, why not pay for the online stream? you get Capps and you get to watch Hunter Pence.

watching Hunter Pence is no big deal so far. he's been very ordinary.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

You didn't miss much yesterday at the Dell Diamond.  I froze my balls off for 2 games.  Not much offense to speak of from either team.  Pence got the walk off walk with the bases loaded in the first game.  In the second, the winning run came home on a wild pitch.  Pence looked more than competent on the balls hit to center.  I did get Nieve's autograph.  He was sitting in the stands behind the plate charting pitches for both games.
Oh God, I wish I was a loofah!

I was originally in sec 121 but since the stands were only 1/4 full, we moved over and sat next to some friends in sec 119 row 18.  I had 2 of my kids with me so I did not get to give my full attention to the game.  Did you brave the cold at the Dell yesterday?
