I believe he also wore #21 with Toronto (in between Bosox and Yanks).

Well, if I gotta be a Clark, I'm gonna give it 100%.

You kinda like to have the last word, don't you?

You know, I never even opened this thread because I thought it was just somebody making a comment about our losing streak (since broken).  Imagine my surprise yesterday when Biggio leads off with, gulp, a PINK BAT.  I had no idea it was for real.

It would probably work for a while, but I bet the managers feel that it is a bit Little League and not worth it for a few cheap outs.

Oh, now I get it.  He meant "insight".  I thought he meant I was trying to start something, like "inciting a riot".  Nothing like confusing the audience when you are trying to stick it to a Clark like me.

Lidge is a closer, and a closer's gotta know that your career as a closer is gonna be pretty short-lived if you can't a) hit your spots consistently or b) come up with something new they haven't seen from you before.  All closers think they have a) nailed down and will not accept that they do not until you start yanking them out of games.

The Astros need to give Bill Schoening (SA Spurs) a call.  Gene Elston is not available.

Last year, the home games were always on the same channel.  This year, they move around a bit, but it is in a close range of channels, as noted.  You do have to hunt a bit more than last year, tho.

If it's an away game, you will have to hunt thru the entire range to find the home team's channel(s).

I thought we were in agreement, Astroholic.  I am crushed.

It's not uncommon for an athlete to injure some other part of his body while trying to protect or compensate for an existing injury.

.333 is a nice day's work.  I should shut up now.

Ausmus' contributions to this team are not measured by offensive stats.

BTW, how could you love Drayton?  He moved the stros away from your beloved dome.

Yeah, but I realize that was necessary to get the money to get the team to the WS, which outweighs my love for The Harris County Domed Stadium.  I don't hold that against Drayton, just like I don't put Judge Hoffeinz above all others for inventing the damn thing.

McMullet did bring Nolan Ryan to the stros and if I am not mistaking offered him the first million dollar contract in baseball.

You are correct on both counts, but don't forget he later asked Ryan to take a pay cut when all he was seeking was the same $1MM he had been paid every year since joining the team.  Even without that gaff that sent Ryan to the Rangers, it pales in comparison to what McLane has brought to town.

Why isn't that "saying much?"

I'm just saying that Hoffeinz and McMullen did far less than McLane to improve the team.

How do you feel about Marquee players?

I thought his claim that we didn't have any was ludicrous.  How in the hell you could discount Clemens that way I don't know.  And Drayton did go after Beltran as far as he could - he did the right thing letting him go but it's not like we were never even interested.

A better case could be made that we don't make very many mid-season moves.

No, I am not Biggio.  Hell, I love Drayton McLane.  Best owner we ever had (not saying much, I grant you).

That is Nick Nolte as Phil Elliott in "North Dallas 40", the greatest movie ever made IMO.

I would rather they move back to the Dome altogether and put the old scoreboard back up, which AFAIK is still in storage in Houston.  Never been a big fan of the Juice Box.
