Man, Correa has made a couple of really horrible errors recently.

-
Correa continues to kill this lineup.
-
3 extra base hits in 103 ABs since returning.
-
Man, Marisnik's throw home was fucking awful.
-
I haven't been able to stream Root for the past three days. Anybody else?
-
I ant seem to post. So someone else will have to do PbP
-
Tigers tie it up on two walks and a 2-out, 0-2 single
-
RBI single wasn't a bad pitch at all, slider down and out and Mahtook just flicked it into CF.
-
Figured it out on this PC anyway. I had disabled media:autoplay:enabled within Firefox, and evidently you can't force it to play manually no matter what. Changed the setting and back in business. This was not the issue the last two days however.
-
2-1 Tigers
-
Their McCann homers 337ft to RF on a 2-0 fastball middle of the zone outside.
-
Man, Marisnik's throw home was fucking awful.
His setup and timing were all wrong. It's like it didn't occur to him the runner might try for home.

Yeah, he double clutched then looked super funky throwing it.
And the runner almost fell over 3rd going home, he didn't seem to think he was going to be sent until he got there, either.
-
A cool 100 RBI for the season on Bregman's 2 run-double. Ball was smoked down the LF line.
-
AFB 30, 50, 100
-
This Bregman kid could develop into a decent player.
-
AFB 30, 50, 100
19th player in history to put up those numbers.
eta: and he just scored his 100th run of the season on White's sac fly.
-
AFB 30, 50, 100
When is the last time an Astro hit 50 doubles?
-
When is the last time an Astro hit 50 doubles?
Gonna guess Berkman.
-
When is the last time an Astro hit 50 doubles?
Biggio has the team record with 56 in 1999.
-
Gonna guess Berkman.
Unless, I missed one, Berkman in 2001 (55) was the last time.
-
The one that surprised me was the last Astro to have 100 RBI in a season. Carlos Lee in...2009.
-
Unless, I missed one, Berkman in 2001 (55) was the last time.
Biggio 56 - 1999
Berkman 55 - 2001
Biggio 51 - 1998
Bregman 50 - right fucking now
-
Good to see the windmill activated in that 5th run.
The slide home was more of a plop.
-
Correa's wheels looked pretty good going from first to home on Marwin's double.
-
Gehrig, ARod, Pujols, Bregman: only players to go 30-50 before age 25
-
Biggio 56 - 1999
Berkman 55 - 2001
Biggio 51 - 1998
Bregman 50 - right fucking now
Right now, Alex Bregman is kicking ass in America.

Put an asterisk by Pujols.
-
Dammit! Stop with the leadoff walks!!
-
And just to add to the ridiculousness of Bregman's even-numbered stat line: his OBP now sits at .400
-
The fact that he hit on all those even numbers gives comfort to my OCD. Also if I heard correctly, 100 runs scored.
-
Maldonado hit on the arm on a backswing...trainers out...

Catcher's interference?
-
Catcher's interference?
Not on a backswing.

Bum's only hitting .297 though
-
Tigers announcers noted that, w/ Marisnick reaching on an E6, the Astros have yet to make a ground ball out today.
Opps!

Actually, that was a base hit. And Springer grounds out as the next hitter.

Should have said w/ Marisnick's hit.
Is Bregman leading the majors in extra base hits?
-
Is Bregman leading the majors in extra base hits?
Yes. 80. J.D. Martinez has 76
-
JJ with a "thank you very much" inning.
-
5-4 now...back to a 1-run game
-
Well fuck...
-
I’m starting to think walking the leadoff hitter is *not* such a good thing after all.
-
Julia saying the Tigers have figured out a way to have apple pie at the game...Apple pie egg rolls. Has she never seen a freakin fried pie? WTF kind of Texan is she?
-

Driving me crazy.
Well, crazier.
-
WTF kind of Texan is she?
A fit one.
-
A fit one.
I’m not sure how she eats all the shit she does. She must purge during the 7th inning stretch.
-
Did Blum just use the term “pickle weasel”?
-
This Reininger pitcher went to my high school.
-
No room for error, boys.
-

I think she's a runner.
Probably an ultra-marathoner based on the various gut bombs she's shown us.
-
White ain’t much of a stretcher at 1B
-
What just happened?
Replay ruled that a HR, right?
-

Replay ruled Mahtook out at 1st.

Replay ruled Mahtook out at 1st.
Thanks for the clarification.

"I'd like to buy some insurance, please."

SPRINGER!!!
I thought this was in reference to a HR.

Sorry. It was as good as one.

Pressly in to try to close out the 5-4 9th...
-
Sweep!!!!
-
WooHoo!! Damn, these games are stressful.
-
Three 1-run wins. Good job boys...enjoy your day off.
-
Here's hoping the O's can pull off a miracle.

What a much needed shot in the arm he and Framber have been.

He and Framber and White and Kemp and (to a lesser extent) Perez. Fresno has come to Houston’s rescue.

Oakland already up 3-0 on Baltimore in the 3rd. Still have 2 on no outs

Well get our turn with the O's.
On to the Diamondbacks.

They get the playing very well Rays this weekend. That could turn out to be a good series.

If they hadn't had such a godawful start they'd be right in the thick of the postseason race.

Unfortunately they’ll miss Snell.

The Astros don't play the Rays again this year, at leas not in the regular season.

I must have misread the schedule. That is very good news.
ETA: Yup. I turned Toronto into Tampa somehow.
-
Some notes at the 90% mark of the season:
The Astros are 92-54, 52-22 on the road. The Astros need one more road win to tie their record set last year, two more to break it.
Bregman's 100th RBI is the first Astro year since 1999 to have a 100 RBI guy with Carlos Lee. Bregman is the first MLB player in history to hit 50 doubles and 30 home runs while playing the majority of his games at 3B. He's the first MLB player to log 50 doubles and 30 home runs since Pujols in 2012. From May 2 - present, Bregman: .308/.408/.609.
It's the 11th time Cole has struck out 9+ batters in a game.
Hinch on Josh James: His poise continues to impress me, his stuff impresses me a little bit more, he's got a lot of weapons to go after hitters. Today is a lesson of pitch execution for him and he still pitched well enough to go back out there and he did his job.
-

Yep. If I'm the rest of the league, I wouldn't want to have to play the Rays or the A's right now. Luckily for the Astros, they have to play each other. The A's also have a series against the Mariners (as do the Astros), who while not exactly lighting the world on fire right now, will be playing for the postseason lives. Got ourselves a real pennant race this year.

Mike Petriello posted the top 5 offenses of the last 30 days:
1) Rays
2) A's
3) Astros
4) Dodgers
5) Mets
-
Carlos had three monster Astro seasons as a run producer. (His two other full seasons were merely excellent.) In 2008 he had 100 rbi in only 115 games, fewer than 500 plate appearances!
I never understood the general animus directed at him from a large contingent of fans. Sure, maybe dicknose overpaid, sure, Carlos comes off as a bit aloof, sure, he hit into a lot of double plays (current team says Hold my beer...), but he was truly elite at what he was brought to the team to do.

They've been playing for their postseason lives all month and are failing. They just suffered a 2 game sweep by the Padres. Though I'm sure they'll play the Astros like they're the 27 Yankees, my money is on them having an under .500 record for September. Having to play the A's will help that along.
This is the weekend for any separation because after Tampa the A's get the Angels, Twins, Mariners, Angels.
IF, that is *IF*, the Rays take care of business this weekend I'd put money on them passing the Yankees for the final wildcard spot. Their schedule is set up for it playing non-contenders and the Yankees while the Yankees have two series against the Red Sox and the one against the Rays.
-
The Rays are 9.5 games back from the Yankees with 17 games to go. That would be something to see.
-
Whichever way it breaks, the AL WC playoff is going to be intense.
-
Piscotty continues to kill the Astros. O's get 2 in the first and he gets a solo shot in the bottom of the frame (Bundy's given up 38 HRs this year, tops in MLB). 2-1 after 2.5
Bundy's got great stuff and has looked good outside of 2 hangers (the other was a rulebook 2B to dead CF). I wonder what his problems have been?
eta: 4-1 O's now after 4. Raining in Balmer, not hard enough to stop it yet.
-
O's hang on to win it 5-3.
-
