to Yankees, Red Sox, Twins, As
Yes to Giants and Mariners

Seven (I think) teams in, including the Rangers but not the Astros, and every other team is out per Rosenthal. I hope SF gets him. Mariners are thought to be the leader.

If the Astros are out, I am rooting for any team in the NL. Glad to see that he didn't sign with the Yankees -- especially after the local media here considered it a foregone conclusion that Ohtani was coming to the Yankees.

Of course they did. Every boy grows up wanting to be a Yankee, right? Even those in Japan.

give those youngsters time and the Astros a few years and it will be the dream to be an Astro

L.A. Times is reporting that Ohtani is going to sign with the Angels. Wow.
Edited to add:
Ohtani’s agent at CAA Baseball, Nez Balelo, issued the following statement on his client’s decision (all Twitter links via Joel Sherman of the New York Post):
“This morning, after a thorough, detailed process, Shohei Ohtani has decided to sign with the Los Angeles Angels. Shohei is humbled and flattered by all the time and effort that so many teams put into their presentations and sincerely thanks them for their professionalism. In the end, he felt a strong connection with the Angels and believes they can best help him reach his goals in Major League Baseball. I want to thank the clubs and everyone else for respecting our intent to make this very important process as private as possible. We were resolved to having a fair, methodical process. Teams clearly put in a lot of work, and we are grateful for that.”

Ohtani vs. Stanton. My $$ would be on Stanton winning that battle.

As I told my dad, I hate to see the Astros now having to face him all the time, but I'm glad I'll get the chance to see him a lot. It'll be fascinating to see how well he does, and how often he pitches and hits.
I assume this means that Pooholes will play 1B a fair bit while Ohtani DHs. They could play Ohtani in RF (sitting Calhoun), but taxing your best pitcher like that doesn't seem like a great idea.

Albert's last 3 years.
Year - # of games he played in the field
2015 - 95
2016 - 28
2017 - 6
Albert is basically a statue now, watching him trying to play the field more than twice a month will be fun to watch, for Angels opponents.
Even funnier, his contract
2018 - $27 M
2019 - $28 M
2020 - $29 M
2021 - $30 M
-
The Angels seem intent on following a blueprint on how not to build a club.
-
Especially when you put his actual age against the money
Even funnier, his contract
2018 - $27 M - 41 years old
2019 - $28 M - 42 years old
2020 - $29 M - 43 years old
2021 - $30 M - 44 years old
