Ashby just said intriguing. Take a shot.
-
What intrigues me is that now that Altuve's back in the lineup who is going to make sure that the paper cups are arranged in perfectly even stacks.
-
Seeing Altuve at the plate after Correa is visually jarring.

I have no idea how Springer scored on that.

I'm guessing it involved running really fast, but I'm just listening.
-
Did Gattis bunt? Because I really want to see video of that.

Yeah, see, no, not really - it looked like he assumed he wouldn't be sent and was sort of coasting into third when he picked up that he was being sent. At which point he turned on the jets.
-

kinda not really
-
HOLY SHIT, CARLOS

It also involved Brandon Barnes, which means the throw couldn't break glass.
-
They seem to be squaring up on VV
-
Rockies have teed off pretty good on Velasquez. A couple of screamers off the wall, drives over Marisnick's head. Lead 2-1 with 2 out in the 2nd n
-
Jake is doing a lot of running out in CF today.
-
VV fooling nobody today. And still taking hours to do it.

3-1, and VV isn't fooling anyone. Everything is a bullet.
-
Valbuena with a solo HR. Rockies 3-2.
-
Valbuena with a solo HR. Rockies 3-2.
It's amazing that he's driven himself in more often than all the other Astros combined.
-
Velasquez with 2nd K of Tulowitski.
-
Carter is SO. GODDAMN. INFURIATING. to watch at the plate.
-
Conger with an RBI single. Tied 3-3.
-
Radio guys saying Altuve was a little wobbly running the bases scoring from 2nd.
-
Santana hits an RBI single with Gattis scoring from 2nd. Astros 4-3.
-
Valbuena can sure hit home runs - 7-3 good guys
-

Don't know if you knew this, but he sure is intriguing.
-
Fortunately, I don't have the sound on.
-
Radio guys saying Altuve was a little wobbly running the bases scoring from 2nd.
Yeah, he never really ran hard just sort of stiff-legged jogged. Brownie said he was told not to run hard today.
-

He jogged in from third. The question of whether he's not feeling 100% or simply heeding instructions not to run all-out is intriguing Ashby.
-
The radio guys are first rate, as we often mention. Been listening to them a lot recently.
-
So my wife just says "they've been playing two hours, this game almost over?" Uh...they're in the third inning honey.
-
Did someone get Ashby a word of the day calendar or something?
-
What an intriguing game.
-
Alive seems gimpy.
For autocorrect, Alive = Altuve.
-
Altuve jogged out that double play ball, so he's clearly not going to bust a sprint today.
-
That was some Villar quality baserunning.
-
What stupid baserunning
-
That was some Villar quality baserunning.
Holy shit, that wasn't even close. If you're gonna try to advance there, you need to at least have a shot at it.
-

When he refers to the sky as cerulean I think we'll have our answer.
-
I actually thought Correa was going to chase that down.
-

Even Brent Strom is intriguing. This is really an intriguing bunch.
-
Brownie busting on the Jakes' computer skill. Awesome.
And a 2-run bomb makes it. 2-run game.
-
I was about to say VV was settling in. Apparently he's settled out.

Settling in to what? He's struggled all day.
-
I'm not overwhelmed by Santana's defense. Not even intrigued.
-

Well of course I just got here.
-
I'm not overwhelmed by Santana's defense. Not even intrigued.
One play?
-
A Conger Donger.
-
That Conger guy is worthless. Why is he on the roster anyway?
-
too high too high
-

it's not because of his pitch framing.
-
One play?
You don't remember the seven crow hop twenty seconds of indecision? I guess you didn't see any of the games last year.
So, two plays.
-
Santana steals base advances to 3rd on missed throw.
-
it's not because of his pitch framing.
If this was St. Louis, you could assume it was his computer skills.
-
Good to hear that Adam and Diego are still on their "fueling good road trip" together. NTTAWWT.
-
it's not because of his pitch framing.
certainly not for his arm either.
-
Harris is slipping. ERA now a bloated 0.87.
-

Those guys are just crazy buying all that gasoline!
-
that was a nice play to get gattis.
-
that was a long foul ball.
-
Someone get Steve Sparks a lozenge!
-
Kahnle was aiming for Orbit.
-
Kahnle was aiming for Orbit.
If Kahnle's nickname isn't ".38 Special", it should be.
-
Oh no, Chad Qualls is in the game.
-
Will someone please explain counterclockwise motion and the dirty side of a cyclone, and put Ashby out of his fucking misery.
-
I'm not feeling much Qualls love.
-
Back to back walks by Qualls brings the tying run to the plate.
-
I was being sarcastic, but it would be nice if he could have get that third out.
-

Got it.

Correa is so smooth, he needs a nickname. What about Astroglide?

I think Brownie is pretty upset that Infante is the leading vote getter for the AL 2b spot.
-
Hand-broom sweep
-

I think that name's already taken by Adam and Diego's RV.
-

I think he was quoting a Bouton piece in SI.
-
Hot ziggity...attaway stros....go get em in the mile HIGH city....!!
-
I think he was quoting a Bouton piece in SI.
probably, but he's been on the topic for a couple of the games.
-

Right. But they're not piling on Infante. They're just pointing out, over and over again, how sucky his stats are this year and what a tragic travesty it would be if he made the All-Star team.

How much pressure will Infante be under to decline the invitation? Or suddenly develop a debilitating injury?

Of course, but the piece Brown was quoting went on and on about how Infante is literally the worst offensive player in the major leagues. It was very direct and not at all diplomatic. That's why it was so unusual to hear a broadcaster relate it. At one point Ashby sort of gasped in surprise at how harsh the analysis was. It was harsh but obviously not at all unfair.
I think we all agree that if there are a couple of All Star worthy players and one guy has a more motivated fan base than the other then that's fair enough. But this is insane. It's time for anyone and everyone with a voice in major league baseball to say so, and that's what Brown did today, although of course he was quoting someone else. Plus, the ASG COUNTS.
-
If the All-Star team decision was based purely on seasonal stats, then Jason Kipnis is your second sacker. Dude's been on fire for just about the entire season. I see lots of him play up here, and he's pretty damn good. Ian Kinsler, who I also see a lot of, deserves honorable mention.
-

A player cannot simply decline to participate. He has a contractual requirement to do so, if selected. Only if he has an injury, and there are all sorts of requirements to document that, can he not participate.
-
But I can not participate and I won't be watching if this the Royals vs the NL. I won't be offended if Altuve isn't elected but I understand that shit but for Infante?
