Title: BBGs respond
Post by: austro on September 19, 2008, 02:52:23 pm
Their response? "Fuck you, Zambrano." (http://javascript:launchGameday({gid:'2008_09_19_slnmlb_chnmlb_1',mode:'gameday'})) And "fuck you, too, Soto." (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3597610)

Much better; thank you.

Well, this is bittersweet. Delgado just took Zambrano deep for a slam, giving the steM a 5-1 lead. Zambrano is melting down because he's not getting calls. Too bad ESPN didn't keep the camera on Zambrano when he went to the dugout after the 3rd out.

The best part is that the inning before the Mets announcers were complaining about Randy Wolf's brother's strike zone as unfair because he wants the Mets to lose their remaining games so the Astros get the wild card.

Cubs come back with 4 in the 5th to tie it.

How about that ending? Leadoff triple in the B9 for NYM, with Wright/Delgado/Beltran due up, and they work out of it without allowing a run. Then the Cubs score three in the 10th to win.

I can't root for either of these teams, but that was impressive.

Is there any risk in trying to invite the BBG's to action, as Coop did with his "divine intervention" mention?  Inquiring minds (and mine) want to know.

Watching the steM choke is still the best.  I'm simply boycotting the Cubs if they are the NL rep.  Screw them.

The only invitation the BBG's accept is to your own clusterfuck.  They won't help you do the right thing, but they'll kick you in the balls and anal rape you when you fuck up.

I agree.  When the Cubs play the steM, I root for the road team and watch the fans.

I can live with a scenario that has the Cubs keeping the steM out and then imploding in the NLDS.

Especially as Zambrano's little baby fits are eroding any confidence the cubs have in him.  Right now they're slotting him as the 3rd starter in the playoffs.  [eta] Pinella is wishing he had another game to put him in to get some work, maybe he'd pitch the possible 162.

I went ahead and forwarded this message to coworkers and friends as a friendly Thursday morning pick me up, in lieu of an FTD bouquet.

My own little dream is to have enough rain in NY that the Cubs and steM have to make up today's game on Monday. Meanwhile, the Astros are still in it, so the Cubs have to then come to Houston on Tuesday (we can put them up in that torn-up Hilton in Galveston).

Or maybe it's Houston on Monday, NY on Tuesday. I don't care. Just so the Cubs have to travel on both days before heading back to Chicago to start the NLDS.

I'm also hoping for a massive disk crash for that Cub fan who paraded his ass in here last night.

Seriously though, the National Weather Service is calling for plenty of rain non-stop tonight, tomorrow, Saturday, and maybe Sunday in NY.  That's a huge storm system off the Carolina coast.  They may not get to start playing their games against Florida until Sunday.

No one mentioning a neutral venue?

The Brewers are at home this weekend, so no.

Irony?  If the Crew win tonight it would be in the Cubs best interest, as far as having to play a game or two after the season, to tank the series with the Crew.  Losing all 3 would eliminate Houston.  That makeup game wouldn't be played.  Losing all 3 would force the Mets to sweep the Marlins to make the game that's supposed to be played tonight between the Cubs and Mets, that is likely to be ppd, necessary.

The thing with the Cubs is...how do you know when they're trying to lose games?

Point of order - 2 Brewer wins eliminate Houston, much less 4.
