Perez Returns With A Win, RR & Salem Lose

Posted on May 8, 2008 by Duman in From the Bus Stop

Round Rock

J.R. House hit a solo homer. Chad Reineke gave up two three run homers. You do the math. That leads to a loss. The final had the Express on the short end of a 10-1 score.

Roster note: Stephen Randolph was traded to Philly for a player to be named later. Kyle Middleton was called up to RR to take his place. Middleton has been on the DL since early April. He appeared in only one game for the Hooks prior to going ton the DL. In that outing, he gave up 3 runs in 1 inning.

Corpus Christi

Sergio Perez returned from the DL with a five innings of work where he dodged trouble, only allowed 1 unearned run and got the win.

“He gave up one run, but it was not an earned run because he threw the ball away at first base,” Hooks manager Luis Pujols said. “But he threw well, he kept the ball down and he gave us what we were expecting out of him — four or five innings.”

In an overall solid team effort, Drew Sutton doubled and tripled, driving in one run; Ray Sadler threw out two runners at the plate; and the bullpen arms of Blazek, McKeller & Gervacio only surrendered one run, and one walk while striking out 6 in 4 innings of work.

Salem

The Avs have lost five straight after their 7-2 loss last night. Casey Hudspeth was very hittable giving up 9 hits resulting in 6 runs in 5+ innings. Salem had 8 hits that included 3 doubles but they couldn’t string enough together to keep up.

Lexington had the night off.
