Cassel is King, Hooks Fight Back for Win, Salem Loses Late, Lexington Loses to the Long Ball

Posted on May 7, 2008 by Duman in From the Bus Stop

Lexington

The Legends couldn’t keep the ball in the park last night in their 5-2 loss. Bryan Brown joined the team out of extended spring training and started in center. He played infield for Greeneville last year.

Salem

Polin Trinidad had another solid start pitching 7 shutout innings but got no decision. The Avs lost in 10 innings 3-1

In roster news:

Catcher Sal Iacona has retired. He went 4-for-16 with two doubles and two RBIs in eight games with the Avalanche this season.

Catcher Kevin Carkeek and infielder Roberto Mena joined the Avalanche in Wilmington, Del., on Tuesday.

Corpus Christi

The Hooks scrapped back from a deep hole to score 2 in the 9th for a 6-5 victory. Mitch Einertson had the game winning hit.

“I just tried to relax a little bit, see the pitches and try to continue to take good hacks,” Einertson said. “Sometimes when you’re struggling, you feel you need to swing at everything and change something. I just said forget it and relaxed, and it ended up working out.”

Round Rock

Jack Cassel pitched 6 strong innings in the Express 10-5 win.
