Monday on the road

Posted on July 31, 2007 by Duman in Bus Ride Archive

All the teams that played last night were on the road.

Round Rock:
Down 5-1 in the 5th inning with 1 runner on base the Las Vegas 51’s (notice the 5-1 pattern there) capitalized on Express errors to get back in the game. The Express finally downed the 51’s 11-5 in 10 innings.

In other Round Rock news, Troy Patton was named the 32nd best prospect in Minor League Baseball by Minorleaguenews.com.

Corpus Christi had the day off. Several of the coaches and players spent the day traveling to the memorial services for Mike Coolbaugh. ESPN’s Elizabeth Merrill does a nice job of showing how the tragedy impacts Mike’s family as well as the young man who hit the foul ball.

Salem:
Evan Englebrook returned from an ankle injury to pitch two innings in relief to get the win as Salem came from behind to be Winston Salem 9-7.

Lexington:
The Legends couldn’t keep up with the Joneses last night. Rome’s Travis Jones hit 3 home runs off Lexington pitching to key a 5-4 come from behind win. Braves’ reliever Beau Jones got the win.
What is it with Braves and Joneses?

Tri Cities:
The ValleyCats lost to the IronBirds last night 4-2. Luis Pardo took the loss to drop his record to 0-5.

Greeneville:
The Elizabethton Twins are the best team in the Appy League with a record of 27-10. Greeneville is the worst team in the league with a record of 8-32. The outcome between the two was as expected. Twins 6-Astros 2.
