tickets???- help
« on: February 21, 2007, 09:40:19 am »
I am coming to Houston from Virginia in April.  I am driving down with the family to see some games.  Can anybody help me out on getting good tickets - I tried ticketmaster and they don't have the greatest seats left.  Can I get good tickets on the street or are there better ways.  Should I take a tour of the stadium?  Any help on that, hotels, sites would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Stubhub or ebay always have tickets, and usually pretty good seats, depending on how much you want to spend. You can always buy tickets on the street.

I thought the stadium tour was pretty cool, so if you're into things like that, it's worth it.  The Astrodome tour was better, IMO, but mainly because of the history and the whole growing up in awe of the Dome thing.

As far as Hotels, the Hilton Americas is a very nice hotel that can't maintain occupancy, so it's usually pretty easy to get a great room at a good rate (I heard $88 per night recently).  It's a couple of blocks from MMPUS.

Again it depends on what you want to do when you're here.

I have bought a ton of tickets on ebay for regular season and playoff games and never had a problem.

I bought a couple of ounces of tickets from E-Bay once, but they were some fine primo seats, man.

TicketExchange on astros.com is a tool for season ticket holders to dump individual games they don't want.  I had very good luck with it several times last year.  They don't have anything posted yet, but typically have at least 5-10 good options per game.  You'll pay a premium but can be confident in the transaction and print from home.

I would also recommend the Hilton Americas.  Good quality hotel and within walking distance to avoid addl parking fees.  I like to take the family to the second level lobby on the ballpark side to take pictures with the park in the background.
