Horrible.  Absolutely horrible.  Fuck him.  One of the greatest pitchers of all time and I don't think I would walk across the street to get his autograph after reading that statement.

What about the 12-13 million he was paid for his "efforts"?  Was that a waste of time?  Is he going to be returning that money to Drayton?  Or is it the least the loser Astros can do for him after dissappointing him so?  It is not only about him (not that he looks at it that way).  It is just a game.  A fucking game.  Both teams try to win and one goes home without the victory.  But he still gets paid regardless.  I'm sooooooooo sorry that the Astros organization wasted your time, you fucking dirty diapered twit.

Please Drayton PLEASE, withdraw any and all offers to Rodjuh and let him take his Skipper/Gilligan act to New York.

Shutup and quit a-hole.  The sooner you do that, the sooner you will do the team some good by coming to work under a contract that is already signed.  Maybe then the Astros will get something out of your talent without having to stroke the ego, or break the bank, or listen to the NY/Boston Hounds of Hell anymore.  I wish he would make up his mind already.

ETA:  I hope  you go  waste your precious fucking time in NY with your frail-minded friend.  Go Toronto (or Tampa Bay.)

Holy fucking shit. Can we go ahead and print up the shirts now? "I played baseball for 3 whole months, and all I got was this lousy t-shirt, 12 million dollars, a vacation every other road trip, the adulation of my hometown fans and constant servicing by every member of the collective broadcast and print media."

And maybe we should print up some variation on the theme for every other poor bastard who wasted their time getting paid to play baseball and came up one or more games short of winning a championship. What a fucking prick.

I hope Alice can get God on the phone so He can guide Roger's sorry ass out of town, like yesterday. Perhaps the Yankees could get Selig to sign off on a contractual stipulation that requires the Yankees to automatically go to and win the Series this year if DQ gets on board by, say, late August or so. That way, we don't waste any more of his precious fucking time.

I hope he suffers 3rd degree peroxide burns on his enormous melon the next time he gets his pretty little tips frosted.

It sounded to me like a guy who hates to lose.  Maybe he didn't put it the best way, but that was the intent I took from the comment.

Those smack of drama and insecurity.  The first, I can't ignore the adulation and demands of my peers.  The second, if one should falter, I'll have to ride in to save the day.

Poor loser, he's only made nearly 40million dollars in his failure to retire!

Hate to lose?  What kind of a non-sequitor is that?  As opposed to the other guys who don't mind it so much?  Last season, the Hendricks were quoted at the trade deadline saying that the Astros had denied Clemens the chance to pitch playoff baseball by refusing to consider a trade to the Red Sox.  Wish they had, how big of a waste would that have been for the Drama Queen.

I wonder how the Astros from last year feel about that comment?  It's a hate to lose all right; hate to lose the spotlight and the extra jack that the playoffs bring.  Nevermind it being playing the 'game you love' sequence used by true baseball players who bowed out gracefully.  Hates to lose = Hates the game and what it takes to perform it at that level for NINE months of a year, but I'll take all the money you can throw at me along with your cameras in my face 24/7. Please go to NY; I think it will end with a smile on  my  face anyway.

Not blaming.  Clemens is egotistical.  I am saying the Astros have reinforced the behavior by allowing the accommodations.  They decided it was worth putting up with the issues to have him on the mound.  I agree with the decision, but you have be prepared for the entitlement attitude that comes with it.

You and I may think that, but I'm not so sure the players feel the same way.  Like it or not, our boys are pretty much the same baseball mercenaries you'll find on any major league team.  They spend a lot of time thinking about themselves.

I'm sure they do, but none of them can hold a team/teams hostage or induce media frenzy quite like this asshole.  He is likely to set a precedent that even the MLBPA won't agree with because the common selfish player can't watch cartoons at home every other Saturday.  It would certainly save Mr. McLane a lot of trouble to end this circus now.  Revenue may dip a little, but it's a gamble anyway.  The example being set is of the worst kind.  Almost makes you want to not see him in the personal servces contract either.

Right. The Astros made his contract the way it was so that he would pitch for them - it's a considered business and strategic decision. They are not some enabling entourage hanger-on, telling him how pretty he looks in his new blouse.

The fact that Clemens continues to demonstrate new and amazing depths of entitlement, self-love and a complete lack of perspective is totally on him. It's not because he had the preferential contract, it's in spite of it. A normal person would speak glowingly of what the Astros did for him, not take a shit on the whole thing. If he got all of that from the club and it's a waste of time, then what the hell are we fans doing?

Bagwell introduced Clemens (says Clemens) as ..."a part-time player and the most expensive batting-practice pitcher they've ever seen." (to the kids at the Elite Camp I suppose, does he need an introduction?)

Clemens has basically announced that he is gone from the Astros.  If he were REALLY bucking for a contract from Drayton, he wouldn't be saying dumbass stuff like this.

No, but there was a pretty crucial late-September game where he got rocked by the Phillies. Or, since everything but the playoffs is such a waste of time, maybe he should look in the mirror and ask who gave up the lead in Game 7 against the Cards on two consecutive pitches. Or who took the ball only to immediately stink it up in Game 1 of the WS.

Normally, those are not things you criticize any baseball player for. But when his team misses the playoffs by one game, and he calls it a waste of time, that's disrespecting the other 24 guys and making himself out to be infallible. Which he is not. And the fact remains that the Astros have had a lot more postseason success than the Yankees the past three years, so he has absolutely no reason to complain.

He did pitch pretty well 7-6 2.30 era. And he did help the Astros get to their only Workld Series in 2005. Also for someone not signed to a contract it is kind of nice for him to pitch BP Monday and Tuesday at the prospect camp. I would in addition to pitching BP he may have passed on some tips, advice, or assisted somew of the Astros prospects. ..It be nice if he chose a eam or made a decision of what he is going to do. I would say the reason he's there has more to do with feeling obligated than him being "nice" (plus it's great PR for him).  He is locked in with the Astros for 10 years after he retires, and the article on astros.com implies that's the only reason he will be with the Astros in Spring Training.  

I thought the PS contract didn't start until he was retired, but I'm sure Mr. Bryan Hoch is better informed.
