Well, as long as he's not drinking and driving with it, that's okay.

Richard Justice, in his playpen, is typing that the White Sox revisted the Garland deal, adding Pence to the other 3.  And that's what stopped the trade; not, as reported, Buchholz failing a phantom physical.  Tim Purpura on 12/12 is reported to have said,

"Willy T., we felt like he somebody we could move because we have Hunter Pence coming. I expect he'll get a chance to make his Major League debut next year."

I would like to know Justice's source(s) for his reports on the Astros.  It's difficult for me to imagine anyone within the organization talking to him.

1. Hindu?

2. Why?

I'm guessing that indicating "Hindu" as religious preference gave young Hunter a case of the screaming giggles.  Here's a prediction that he and Ausmus won't spend much time discussing modern fucking art into the wee hours of the morning.

One of the reasons we all love our favorite ballplayers is because we don't know TOO much about them.  We know and care about what they do on the field and maybe a few other things.  Personal stuff is best left private.

We, as adults, also often forget that our favorite young prospects are exactly that, young.  In general they are no different than any other 18-22 year old kids we know, and in many cases, are actually a lot less mature than most.  They are not 40-year olds thinking about mortgages, retirement, and paying for their kids' college.  Their main interests are who's going to be at the party on Saturday night, the latest song craze, and what happened on the last episode of The OC.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Looks like a lot of booze and young ladies. Is Pence the opening day starting center fielder or does he start if Lane falters?

Neither... it's Burke.

Pence's shot comes in 2008 after Burke moves to second.

How is Charlton Jimerson going to play into this?  He seems kind of stuck between a rock (Pence) and a hard place (Burke/Lane).

i heard a recent prediction that he will be released for several reasons, not the least of which is that he cannot put the ball in play consistently. i'm not sure why anyone thinks he's an answer to anything.

Hunt has been busy this offseason, he has changed agents, his case is still pending, but as I posted before it still looks like those charges will be dropped. Hunt does not smoke and really is not a drinker from what I've seen and heard.  He really is a great guy and a very decent young man. Iknow he also has been working out with his brother Howard.

i got my daugher who has a mypace thingy to do some research and you would be suprised how many pages you can find and how many "accounts" people like roger clemens , etc have had. she joined a bunch of them at one time for fun (knowing they were mostly not real) a lot  of them have since gone away. she also noted that the age was wrong. maybe some obsessed fan getting alittle glory by creating the space

@@WARNING@@ this post is unabashedly biased...I am Hunter's mother and do read Astro's blogs and forums.  I have never posted anything before, however I could not resist responding to this "My Space" debacle.  Hunter is just the young man Hudson Hawk described. He loves baseball, video games, his brother and family, working out and his friends.  He does not smoke and rarely drinks.  The pictures on My Space with cigars and alcohol are from the celebration after winning the Texas League Championship and were given to the team by the Hooks.  The other ones were from the celebration from winning in the Rising Star Showcase.

A "friend" of Hunter's had his My Space password and thought it would be funny to put that he was Hindu on his site.  Hunter was not aware of it until it was brought to his attention.  That prompted his making the site private and adding a statement to his friends that he is a Christian, not a Hindu, with no disrespect to the Hindu religion or people.

In Arizona, Hunter had played 11 days in a row, had just won in the Rising Stars Showcase game and had a day off the next day.  Hunter was one of the last players to leave the field after the game because he stayed to talk to some young children about not smoking.  His agent took him out to dinner and dancing to celebrate. Everyone he was with did not think he was drunk when he left to drive back to his apartment.  He went a different way home and was on his cell phone when he was stopped in Scottsdale. It is of public record that his blood alcohol level came back under the legal limit.  He is VERY sorry for what he has done and cares very deeply about the Astros and the Astro fans.  He is not allowed to comment about the incident until the case is closed.  I am probably speaking out of turn, however there are times a mother has to be a mother!

This is a wide eyed 23 year old young man that is learning that his actions impact many people and are always under scrutiny. He has done a lot of growing up this past year.

I will shut up now and thank you for indulging a mother's rant.
