Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

It only takes time for today's over inflated contract (see: Lee, Carlos or Soriano, Alfonso) to become tomorrow's bargain basement deals.

Lance Berkman now looks like a steal if this goes through and A-Rod is no longer alone at the top.

Crazzzzzeeeee!

With all the talk of Taxes and such, what does he actually make given this is on a Canadian team?  I hear their tax rate is really high, much worse than NY.

Berkman i hope will become like a biggio or bagwell and stay with the astros. how a man can play baseball like that and appear well you have all seen his discussion groups and second base and the terrifying moments of him lumbering to get a ball and somehow being there when he played in the outfield...well is beyone me. that said what he gets paid compared to some others with similar stats or even weaker ones is not in the same ballpark
forever is composed entirely of nows

Yeah, it turns out that just isn't true.  For someone in his income range, he'd be looking at 29% in federal income taxes and 11% in Ontario taxes.  That's roughly what he'd be paying in NY.  Canada has some other silly taxes here and there (I still don't get VAT), but honestly, he'll keep about what he'd keep as a Yankee.

Of course, the Jays pay in loonies and twonies.  So bring a sack.

VAT is just a federal sales tax, but applied to services as well as goods.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

and at each level. Here, you don't have to pay sales tax if you are purchasing something for resale. In a VAT, you do.

No, no, you seemed to think I didn't know what the definition was.  I know that.  What I mean is: I don't get how they get away with having it.

The same way the US gets away with being the only industrialized country to tax their citizens while not working within the country.

(Of course, thank god for me that we do so - otherwise I might have found a career that didn't allow for hours of OWA each day.)

So what exactly are you saying, that governments can just make up tax laws?
Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it
Truth isn't easy, the easy part's shit
