I remember him as the SS for some mediocre to really crappy Twins teams in the mid-1980s. Then he left just before they surprisingly won it all.
I honestly don't remember his 7-game stint with the Astros. He was called up from Tucson in the middle of June, didn't start any games. He was 37. After a few weeks the Astros outrighted him back to Tucson and purchased the contract of OF Mark Davidson, another scrub I had mostly forgot.
The Astros either got rid of Washington because he was old and couldn't hit any more, or because he was African-American. Damn 'necks.
