Jim, any thoughts on Gary Matthews Jr? Watching him, while I lived in Dallas, I thought he was a good OF but didn't offer much offense at the position he played. However, as a top of the order hitter, he offers more power than Taveras as well as being a switch hitter (overrated attribute, maybe, but still appealing).
I'm not asking whether the Astros will sign him. I'm curious as to your thoughts, if any, on how he measures up defensively.
