From feast to famine: Astros lose to Marlins, 6-0

Going from a day they scored 14 runs against the Phillies to zero, zilch, nada, zip against the Fish, one gets the feeling this might be more commonplace during the season for the 2005 Houston Astros.  Or maybe not.  But the real story in the loss to the Florida nine was the pitching performance of Brandon Duckworth and Tim Redding.  Ying and Yang if you will.

Duckworth pitched five solid innings of 1 run baseball, registering 4 Ks to go with 1 walk while giving up just five hits.  Sponge Redding didn't fair as well, working four and giving up 5 runs, four unearned (his own error opened the floodgates).  The race for the #5 seems to have gotten very clear now as a two man race between Duckworth and rookie Zeke Astacio.  Of course, Redding might be able to salvage his chances with his next outing, but truth be told, he is pitching like a man who isn't aware he's losing his job this spring.
