standings question
« on: September 28, 2006, 10:28:30 am »
If the Astros are 1/2 game out after Sunday, the Cards do *not* have to go to SF to play, right?  They win the division because they are ahead, right?

Boy, don't they teach you nothin' up there?

Damn right the Cards will have to play.

ETA: They won't have to go to SFO, that you were right about.  The game is in STL.

If the Cards are 1/2 up or 1/2 down, they have to make up the game.

If they were only 1/2 up, and lost to the Gints, they'd be tied with the Good Guys...

I know it's not a reliable source but MLB.com has the game in San Luis.

I'm delerious from the last week.  I thought I had remembered years past when a team that played less than 162 games won a division because they were ahead in the standings by percentage and wins even though playing out the string *could* bring them back to a tie.  Glad to hear I am wrong.

The game should be in St. Louis, since that is where the rainout was on the 17th of this month.

I believe I may have been one of the sources of this disinformation.  The game is in STL.

Not in my case.  I just had trouble keeping up with all the scenarios laid out last week (one head spun... *check*!).  I knew there was travel in there somewhere for the Cardinals.  I just didn't keep up with it good enough to realize it was back to Houston in case of a tie after 162 played.
