Ok, This is Interesting
« on: September 27, 2006, 04:29:33 pm »
For the Dreamers among us.

Put aside all the BBG talk for a second and just follow me on this.

If the Astros were to win the Central outright with no one-game-playoff and the Dodgers won the WC, sure enough, we'd be in NLDS "A", playing the SAN DIEGO PADRES on:

Tuesday
Thursday
Saturday
Sunday
Monday

Oswalt, Hitchcock, Oswalt anyone?

Sterling has been retired for a couple years now.

I had wondered about that too.  If there's any justice, the games in SD would get the afternoon TV slots, so that they're starting at 10am PDT midweek.  Then we'd get two weekend full houses (roof closed) with 45,000 screaming fans and the tossers at ESPN will say how much better supported are the Astros over the Padres.

Regardless of karma, the stretched series would be preferred by the Astros, I believe, because of the high calibre of the #1, #2 and #3 starters, and the enormous drop off to #4.

The Plumber also pitched in Game #4.  I will never forgive MLB for that one.

Oh.

THAT was it.

Oswalt, Rocket, Pettitte, Oswalt all on full rest in Games 1 thru 4 would be very, very nice.

I thought Game #4 was the Hitchcock game?

It was Brown, Ashby, Brown, Hitchcock.

TV schedule completely shifted the advantage to the Padres in that series.  But if this one comes to pass, Oswalt would take Brown's spot and instead of Sterling Where the Hell Did He Come From? Hitchcock, Roger Freakin Clemens is the middle man in the Astros rotation.

I have this memory in my head of Brown coming out of the pen in one of the games.  Thought it was #4 (which was started by Hitchcock).  Just looked it up and I am delusional.

Brown came out of the pen in game 5 of the NLCS (and got the loss).

The hell you say.  The 1998 playoffs ended after one round, no champions were declared.  That's how I remember it.

I actually moved into a van down by the river after the NLDS.  I was reacquainted with society approximately 3 years later, and found out about Brown then.
