Just went over to the comical's site and the headlines state that T. Owens tried to commit suicide last night.

Why did you bother going to the Chronicle site, when you could have read it right here...

Go on.  There it is!  About 20 inches down the page.

This is nothing.  A ferret on a skim latte could keep up.

The old BFT days... you'd better not blink if you wanted to see that rant.

That's cool!  I don't think I've ever seen anyone misuse "to" and "too" in back-too-back posts.

Is he a BFiB?

Right.  In our London office, one of the standard comments that would be written on everyone's leaving card, regardless of gender, would be "So long to one of the best face-fucks me and the boys ever had".  It was typically attributed to the current Chairman.  For a moment, I was nostalgic for the old country...

first,
Terrell Owens denied a police report that he attempted suicide

Then this?

The man who co-wrote the song "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" had the unsettling experience this week of reading his own obituary ? the result of an impostor who went through life claiming to be the author of the 1960s smash hit.

The last paragraph really confused me:

Quote:

"It's such a long time ago. To have it come out now, I'm kind of devastated," she said. "If this man is getting the royalties why wouldn't he be happy? The more you stir this up the more you'll smell. Paul can't hurt him now ? he's dead. And we're not going after him for the royalties."

Which one is she talking about? She's devestated that they guy says he's not dead? How could she go after him for the royalties?

Overall, that's a nutty story.
"Holy shit, Mozart. Get me off this fucking thing."

That man should've been dead long before now, from repeated arsekickings.

That's right, baby.  Now you're talkin' my language.  To quote somebody famous, "Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy a big enough boat to sail up real close.  Ask Derek Bell."

Speaking of profoundly inspirational people (that is what this and the Dustin Sanchez thread are really about, right?), I am trying to understand someone who would take the trouble to go through their entire life impersonating the obscure writer of an obscure one-shot early '60s novelty hit.

I mean, set the bar high!  At least go out and kick Ron Palillo's ass or something.

I didn't think I'd ever hear anyone in the sports world (or related therein) top the shallowness of Ewing's remark during the NBA's players strike: "Sure we make a lot of money, but we spend a lot of money too."

In-freaking-credible!

As the Bible says, a rich man may enter the kingdom of heaven, but David Carr couldn't hit a camel's arese with a banjo.

Or something like that.

I'm no big Carr fan, but right now he doesn't look like the problem to me.  The facts that the offensive line is weak, they have no running backs, and the defensive backs couldn't cover me all seem like bigger problems.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

After watching a re-run of the news conference, I suppose it is possible she realized it was a tense situation and thought it would lighten the mood to make a comment like that.  It is possible she realized she was talking to (sports) journalists, and decided to converse on a level she felt sure they would be able to comprehend.

But that's me reading a whole lot into it.

It is also possible this person believes that with 25 mil in hand, nothing else really matters.  In which case, de facto (and logically), the person employed to promote Terrell Owens' public image actually believes him to be a hopelessly shallow human being.  Which may be true, he may be; but if there is any truth to the depression and attempted suicide scenario, in a weird way that is to Owens' credit.
