...and Tim and Drayton...

Yet another year of meaningful Astros baseball in September.  It's been a good decade.
Another trenchant comment by a jealous lesser intellect.

For being 4 games under 500? Thank the rest of the National League for sucking.

No kidding, Jim.

The goal is to feild a team that makes the playoffs (and entertains the fans) and the Astros management team has done this consistantly for over a decade.  Not many other organizations can say this.  The Astros organization itself had a very limited history of sustained success prior to the McClane era.  As a 24-year Astros fan, I am grateful.  For those that demand 95 win teams each year to feel good about a team, there's always New York.

Bullshit. There should be no happy or proud feelings about this season, even if they do make the playoff's, changes need to be made. Just ask Alyson Footer.

One thing of which the Astros cannot be accused, is killing their opponents too quickly.

"Watching a sub-500 Astros is better than no Astros at all"... is a stupid argument.

Then go watch sub-500 Texans because you obviously aren't a baseball fan.

I know I always feel that way around November. Bad baseball is better than no baseball.

Not to mention we've had a good decade, as das said to start things off

It's a good thing Pup is not as content with a sub-500
team as you guys are.

"This upcoming offseason, we should have more flexibility, payroll-wise, to do things trade-wise or free agency-wise, and I think that's the primary objective: to upgrade the offense while maintaining and keeping the pitching stable. That's the tough part of any GM's job. You know you just can't focus on one area; you have to look at offense, you have to look at defense and you have to look at pitching."

But, he's just identifying himself with the Astros GM.  The way Tim Purpura watches the game is exactly the way he watches the game.

I don't think anybody's content with a sub-.500 team. But the fact is that the wild card chase is what has people interested right now. If instead of three games back they were 13.5 games back in the wild card race, as they would be in the American League, I doubt most people would still be here paying much attention, nor that you would be here complaining about it. What I don't understand about it is this: if a chance to win the wild card, despite their unimpressive record, is so shameful, then why do you care? The fact that they've got a shot has apparently raised your interest enough to keep you posting.

I'm not content with losing. My influence with TP and Drayton is limited though. The team has, in general, been winning over the recent decade.

The other teams are trying to win too, and they have good players and management sometimes as well.
