Didn?t see the game, so I?m taking the recap from MRaup in the Game Zone. Almost every pitch of every atbat, it was almost like I was there.
Albers ?Hey Hey Hey it?s Matt Albers? did alright for his first start. Right off the bat he was looking at 2 on no outs. But he got a strike out and a double play.
This Hensley character for the Padres was dealing though, ?one nasty young mo-fo?. The Astros were having trouble getting on much less scoring.
In the 4th , with one on, Albers got the grounder to third, unfortunately the runner was going and they only got the one out at first. Next batter singled and it was 1-0. Padres got 3 in the 5th; the big hit, a 2 run single by Adrian Johnson.
Albers made it through 5, MRaup reports ??was starting to get the ball up, leaving pitches over the plate too. His stuff looked great until this inning.? . A few too many base runners, 8 hits, 3 walks.
But the Astros didn?t lie down. Ensberg singled home Taveras in the 6th.
Geoff Blum, who we used to like, (well until the World Series) started the bottom of the 6th with a bloop double. He scored on a bases loaded grounder back to Springer, Big Spring sailed the toss home over Munson?s head. From about 6 feet away is how I understand it.
OP, in his first at bat back from 10 days bereavement leave where he likely didn?t even look at a bat, doubled in a run. 5-2 in the 7th.
Mike Cameron ran down a long fly by Scott in the 8th with a runner on that could have done damage. We never did like Cameron.
They travel to Phoenix, 9:40 CDT in the freaking PM.
