the coach was a good guy, but he tried to put a hex on us with voodoo or something. he would make X or cross marks in the dirt in the batters' box, and once, he carried a foul ball all the way to the mound and handed it to Belisle. on the way out there, he was making those marks on the ball with his fingers as fast as he could move his hands. Mark tried to get the first base umpire to charge Robstown with a trip to the mound, but he just laughed.
another strange thing: our third baseman was ejected for a too aggressive headfirst slide. his replacement played little that year, but he did great in the game. during his single AB, he hit THREE fans with foul balls in different spots in the park. that has to be a record.
Mark: or be paralyzed and intimidated by the atmosphere. you guys were not scared. great times.
