Lidge for Blalock?
« on: July 29, 2006, 11:16:12 pm »
You've gotta be kidding me.  Why in the world would the Rangers do this?

Anyone have any confirmation on this?

I'm going to assume that ESPNRadio is grossly confused here.

Buster Olney said on Baseball Tonight a few minutes ago that the Rangers expressed interest in Lidge, offering Rod Barajas or Brad Wilkerson.  Reportedly, the Astros turned them down.

Oh really?  Ok, that makes a LOT more sense.

Forget I said anything.

Arky: ESPN Radio was reporting something about Lidge for Blalock or something.

The Rangers seem to be going out of their way to unload Blalock. His offensive production has really tailed off the past 2 years. He hit just .263/.318/.431 last year and he's hitting .280/.340/.420 this year and he's only on pace for 19 homers. I'll take my chances with Ensberg.

Huh.  I hadn't looked at his numbers.  Didn't realize he dropped off that bad.

Seeing that now, yeah, I'm not sure I wouldn't rather go a different direction.

Astros say Lidge will NOT be traded.  Period.

I bet he's gone by morning.

If what Texas offered us (Barajas or Wilkerson) is indicative of Lidge's value on the market, I sure hope he's not traded.

Hell.  Let's trade for Tejada and Blalock.

Biggio (2b)
Burke (cf)
Berkman (lf)
Tejada (ss)
Blalock (1b)
Huff (3b)
Wilson (rf)
Ausmus (c)

Yeah.  I'd go to war with that lineup.
Boom!

I think you just traded Lidge twice.

That's one way to maximize his trade value

Huff has more experience at 1B than Blalock does.
