May the Clubhouse never get this bad (Blue Jays Goings-on)

Quite a bizarre situation.  I can't see anyone in our clubhouse getting into fisticuffs with Gar--Preston would take a swing and miss by 5 feet, Everett would be great at blocking punches but couldn't land any of his own, while Mo would just stand there and stare blankly.

Then again, maybe Ausmus would be terrific at landing 1-2 combos.

Good lord, what a mess.

I'm not condoning what Hillenbrand did (pretty low) but Gibbons is a total jerk. I've seen managers fired for much less than that. I can't see how an organization would sit still for that level of unprofessionalism from their field boss.

are you kidding? have you ever heard of Larry Bowa? he makes "Gibby" appear to be Dale Carnegie.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

That is a shitbag move.  Challenging someone to punch you in the face when you know all good sense and professionalism is at stake and then acting like you are a hard guy when common sense prevails.  I doubt Shea is scared of Gibbons, clubhouse aneurysm though he may be.

I've always had trouble appreciating the alleged effects of the whole "clubhouse aneurysm" thing. Don't most people work with someone who is a pain but good at what they do? And how, exactly, does someone being a jackass affect on-field performance? When you're up to bat, is your swing affected by the fact that the 3b is a tool?

Maybe a fight is what this team needs. Light a fire in their ass. It worked for the Indians, remember when Wild Thing Vaughn attacked Hays from behind and the whole team got in a fight? They went to the world series.

Hillenbrand was asking for trouble when he posted that message on the board for all to see.  Gibbons could have responded better but probably had his pride hurt in front of the team which is why he might have felt the need to challenge Hillenbrand in the manner that he did.
