That was different. The bats worked, the pitching worked, nobody made a bone headed play in the field. Good game.
Josh Johnson struck out Biggio swinging to start the game and blew through the 1st. But then the shadows moved across the field and filled between the mound and the plate. It?s rare that the exact point where a game turns can be spotted, but this one, in the 2nd, after Huff went with the pitch and got an opposite field single, Preston Wilson looked at a 4 pitch walk. That was it. Johnson lost his control. Everett got another opposite field hit and they were off to the races. Highlights of the scoring, Berkman hit a monster homerun to center that looked like a little pop up that just kept carrying. Everett was 4-4, one a gift from the scorer on a grounder to Cabrera. Burke had 2 hits including a homer, Ausmus 2 solid singles to right, Huff also had 2 hits.
The Marlins tried the same strategy that worked on Clemens, chip away and run the pitch count up on Pettitte. The difference between the game against Clemens was that instead of fouling, fouling and fouling off pitches. They missed. Pettitte got an uncharacteristic, but apparently common for the Marlins, 10 Ks in 7 shut out innings. T.Miller struck out the side in the 9th.
