All All-Star Game issues resolved
« on: July 07, 2006, 10:41:53 am »
By me!

There's been a lot of discussion about all aspects of the All-Star game, so I thought I'd resolve everything here and now so there's no need for further questions and so that everyone can adjust their opinion accordingly.

* 26-man roster.
* Every team must be represented.
* DH.
* No impact on WS home field.  Home field goes to the team with best overall record.
* Fans elect starters (except pitchers).
* No fan e-mail voting for last spot.
* Every player shouldn't expect to play - managers should be prepared for 14 innings, max.
* One honorary captain for each team each year.  This is an active player who may play.  Spot reserved for future HOFs nearing the end of their career and chosen by the players.
* Did I leave anything out?

Sanity?

Why would MLB change something that works so well.  Eh?  Oh.
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

I am intrigued by your ideas, and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

Take this out.  Only the host team must be represented.  Other than that I'm on board.

Absolutely. I think this is the stupidist rule associated with the AS game, even worse than the WS advantage and multiple online voting, neither of which I like.

So, does "this time count" or not?
News that is sufficiently bad somehow carries its own guarantee of truth.  Only good reports need confirmation.
