Rumour: Barzilla an Astros?
« on: June 06, 2006, 04:28:56 pm »
Oswalt to the DL, Phillip Barzilla called up.  That's the rumour.  No word on how Barzilla gets on the 40-man.  Anyone know anything?
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I'd bet you hit it in the Sampson thread.  Bagwell to 60-day DL.  That's my guess.

That's how they got Sampson on the 40-man.  They'll have to either move Backe to the 60-day, or drop someone from the roster.

I'd guess Trever Miller goes away.

No way.  I'd guess waivers for Gallo before that.

Backe to 60-day is also possible, but just briefly postpones making another move.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

is Gallo still on the 40 man? i hope that is who goes. Miller has been pitching pretty well.

He is at the moment, as he was optioned down.  Someone will have to be DFAed from the 25 man or released from the 40-man.

I'm just sitting here dumbstruck as to WTF happened to the pitching staff.  The best pitchers right now are two guys who should be played by Dennis Quaid in a Disney Movie.

It's been one hell of a shit ride since 19-9. Here's hoping that getting 1-hit by zambrano was the low spot.

"I'm thinking we're getting ready to break out of it," Astros manager Phil Garner said. "I just knew that we were going to get a hit tonight (Monday) and put four or five runs on the board. I keep looking for that one thing that's going to happen. It's going to happen and it's going to happen soon."

Four of five runs would have still left them a grand slam short.

Maybe he meant four or five runs an inning.  That way they can keep pace with the opponent.

Since it's a transfer from the 15 day, it means he is still on pace to come off the DL a little bit after the All-Star Break.  Doesn't look like Backe will be able to start helping the team again with his pitching until late July/early August, best case scenario.
