Conrad doesn't look like a 3B to me. Two instances from last night:
1. High-hopper to third. Experienced 3B probably charges and takes the short-hop second bounce; Conrad chose to back up and take the longer bounce. Fortunately, the bounce was true, and he threw the guy out. Because of where this ball was bouncing, charging wasn't necessarily the right play, especially if the decision wasn't made immediately, so he probably ought to get the benefit of the doubt here.
2. Mid-hopper to third. This one definitely should have been charged, but instead he backed up again and waited. This caused him to be pretty deep at third, and he one-hopped the throw to 1B and needed a pretty difficult grab by Huffman to avoid an error.
If these last few games are the first time he's ever played third, I imagine that his decision-making will improve as he gets more experience. But his arm doesn't appear to be up to the task. They may be playing him at 3B simply because they want his bat in the lineup but also want Robinson and Ransom in the lineup, too. Conrad's swing is really pretty.
Scott absolutely crushed his second homerun last night: it wound up on the walkway behind the RF berm. He was 2-4 with two homeruns, and the two outs were both deep flies caught on the warning track.
