speaking of Lance

did anyone else see him throw the ball around the infield by throwing it to AE after his great stretch? only problem was there was a runner on 2B.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

I saw that and wondered. I hoped maybe he saw something going on at 2nd that required a throw...
Oye. Vamos, vamos.

Where do you rank Berkman in terms of defensive first basemen in the NL? Think he has a golden glove shot?

My own personal opinion is that he's in the top 3 or 4, but that he has zero shot at a Gold Glove, at least not this year.  GG seems to be substantially influenced by name recognition, and while Lance has been a star player for years, the national media likely has no real established "perception" of him as a 1B.

One of my friends disputes this, but I swear that I saw Lance reaching for a bag of sunflower seeds, stuffed into his pants while catching a throw from the pitcher while a holding runner on first. If it's true, I don't give a shit about fundamentals, that's just funny.

I saw him do that on Fox Sports West out here.

I thought there must be seeds shells all over the place around first base.
He breezed him, one more time!

only saw Gameday/boxscore of today's game...did Lamb pinch-hit for Berkman merely as a precautionary, or did his hammy flare up again?

His *ham* flared up. Garner must have been giving the Rockies first base coach a break in the top of the ninth from the constant verbal assualt. (Andy was pitching so well that Berkman didn't get many visitors)

One thing I did notice in the game, Lance did not try to dive for a ground ball between 1st and 2nd, even Brownie mentioned it. Biggio got to it and threw him out. So maybe he is taking it easy on his legs for a few days.
