Dr. Gary...
« on: April 22, 2006, 10:51:09 pm »
...on Preston Wilson's recent struggles:

"Only he really knows how he feels at the plate," hitting coach Gary Gaetti said. "Until he wants to really open up to me and wants to maybe go to a different place, there's not a whole lot I can do. I can just encourage him."

Tres interesant. A man with a neanderthal's brow and a heart of gold. A patient man, our batting coach. A wise man.

Maybe Pres disdainful of Dr. Gary?

They were pitching around Ensberg tonight.

I find this whole Wilson thing interesting.  I think it's probably safe to say Preston Wilson is streaky.  The Astros knew what they were getting when they signed him.  If healthy, they know that they are probably going to get 30 homeruns out of him, but they also know that he's going to strikeout 150 times. Right now, I would be pitching around Ensberg too. At least until Wilson starts making opposing pitchers pay...and he will...for a week or two at a time.  But folks...this is Preston Wilson.  This is what you are gonna get all year.

I don't think anyone would disagree. Not many around here get worried about minor slumps, such as the one Wilson is currently experiencing.

Ditto for Lane. Very nice to see Morgan healthy again.

Slumps happen. I was alot more worried about the 13 K's in 16 AB's. It is a problem when I feel like a groundout to second was a nice AB...
