The Yahoo! fantasy league has this note on Jason Kendall's player page:

"Apr 9 Bob Sherwin, of Athletics.MLB.com, reports Oakland Athletics OF Milton Bradley might get added to MAN Ken Macha's green-light list to steal bases. 3B Eric Chavez, OF Mark Kotsay and C Jason Kendall are currently the only three players that have the green light. Macha's requirement is that the player must have a 75 percent steal success rate."

That's the first time I've heard for the A's in particular, or any team in general, using a bright-line rule like that.  I wonder if Macha was ordered to use it from on-high.

And what if the main reason he's at 75% (or better) is because the coaches have reined him in and kept from running when he might otherwise have been inclined to do so?
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed

But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

Well, this is only an educated guess...but he probably has his green light removed when he starts getting caught more often...

Red Sox frown on 50%

"Francona said that he ideally would love to see Crisp provide the same type of distraction factor that the Red Sox have to deal with."

?When we play teams like the Angels, it bothers us when Chone Figgins gets on,? he said. ?It gets in the way (because) you?ve got to control that part of the game, so it would be nice for the other team to have to do that with us.?

"We want baserunners. I think Coco understands that," said Francona. "If he wants to take off every game, he could steal 30, easy. But we don?t want him to be 30-for-60."
(Crisp) "...the impression so far is I have that green light, (but) just be smart over there. If you feel you can get it, go ahead and take it..."

"When he hits the ball, he runs like his pants are on fire," said Francona. "I love that. Our team is not very fast. When he comes out of the box, they?d better get it in, or he?s going to second. That?s an aspect we haven?t had a lot of. It?ll be fun to watch."

They want to be more like the Angels.
