A somewhat surprising reaction to the Chi-Sox
« on: April 04, 2006, 04:46:16 pm »
I noticed that Cleveland is currently beating the White Sox 7-1 in the 5th inning. Freddy Garcia only lasted 4+ innings.

I was surprised to find myself as gleeful as a little girl because of this. I found myself cheering against the White Sox. Obviously, this is because of the way the Astros were swept by them in the WS, but I honestly did not expect to feel this way. Generally speaking, I have nothing against the Sox. I felt this way about the Co-ards, Braves, and steM, but those seem like obvious reactions against those teams.

But I didn't expect to develop a general dislike for the White Sox. I didn't have this feeling against the Padres or Phills (although I wasn't as into baseball then as I am now), and yet I want the White Sox to lose, and I want them to lose badly. Is anyone else having this reaction? Does it surprise you?

Come to think of it, I did say "dammit" out loud when I read that they won their opener.  I was also pleased when I read that it rained.

Shoot, just *hearing* Pierszynski get bowled over at the plate made me smile.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Not me.  After the eight postseason teams were finalized, I was for the White Sox if the Astros didn't win it.  The only positive thing I could think about watching the White Sox after Game Four was thinking about Cubs fans.

I pull for the White Sox when they don't play us.

See, that's what I expected, but my natural reaction told a different story. That's why I was somewhat surprised.

I'm glad to see that the White Sox CAN be beaten.  It's been awhile since their last loss.  But I semi-enjoy them as a team.  Strong pitching staff, some scrappy players, and the Thomenator.
