Astros Home Television Territory
« on: April 02, 2006, 03:18:44 pm »
I know we've done this before, but I was hoping someone might have new info.

Does anyone know how to find out what is in the ASTROS HOME TELEVISION TERRITORY?  See, out here in El Paso, we get fucked (big surprise).  We're still in the home territory, despite being 12 hours from Houston.  So, we don't get any of the Astros games that are on Extra Innings, but that aren't on FoxSW.

We used to just "move" our DirecTV to Seattle, but that was before El Paso had locals on DirecTV.  Now it does, and we have grown accustomed to having locals again.

Anyway, we can't "move" to Seattle, because then we lose our locals, as we are out of Seattle's local 'footprint.'

We CAN, however, get Albuquerque's locals.

So, my question is: is Albuquerque (or any of NM for that matter) in the Astros Home Television Territory?

I just think it's fucking asinine that I, as an Astros fan, get fucked out of half of my team's games to protect some bullshit.  Please trust me when I tell you, I'm not likely to drive in for a game from El Paso just because it won't be on TV here that night.

At the bottom of this page ( link ) they have a drop down menu for you to select a team and another window will open up with all of the zip codes that are included in that team's "home" territory.

Albuquerque is not Astros TV territory.  It's the Snakes and the Pebbles.  That's true of all northern New Mexico.  I imagine it would be the same for the whole state, including Cruces.

You might also consider using a slingbox.  I don't have one but I'm guessing that someone on here in the Houston area has one and would kindly let you tune into their slingbox.  Of course you'd have to watch the game on the computer unless you have a media center computer that connects to your TV.  Just a suggestion.

Speaking of TV coverage, I just checked the Austin schedule for FSN and I saw no entry for the game tonight.  WTF??  Does anyone know if tonight's game will be aired in Austin?

If you've got digital cable, check your EPG. It's there.

I have DishNetwork. But I'll go back and check the programming guide...

Thanks, went and searched on sports events and found it on Alt3, whatever that is.  Hopefully I'm receiving that channel come game time.
