Dan "Wrecking Ball" Wheeler

From Astros.com

Teammates call Astros reliever Dan Wheeler "Wrecking Ball" because Wheeler recorded the final out at Busch Stadium in last season's National League Championship Series. Busch Stadium has since been torn down.

That is sweet.

Don't gloat too much.  In Game #4 of the 1999 NLDS, following the WFW (Walt Fucking Weiss) game, the ATL jumped out to a huge lead, but with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th, Cammy stepped up with ducks on the pond, himself representing the tying run (IIRC).  A reeling John Rocker was on the mound, and he tried to sneak a fastball by Cammy.  Kap-POW!  Cammy middled it and it went sailing into the far reaches of the Astrodome's outfield, the crowd went wild... yours truly was leaping around his living room...Andruw Jones was back-peddling like a mutha...

Then he slowed...then he stopped a step short of the warning track...and he waited...and he pouched a can o' corn that had died in the Dome's dead air like so many would-be homers that had gone before it.

The Astros were eliminated, never to play in the Dome again.
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

There must be some higher purpose that this can be used for -- it could become a generic description when something bad happens to the Jakes.

"Sidney Ponson suffered a nothch in the hisotry last night when, left in one batter too long, he surrendered a three-run homer to drop the game 5-4."

"The Cardinals have endured another nothch in the hisotry, announcing that Scott Rolen will be out two months with a shoulder injury."

"LaGenius' insertion of So Taguchi to pinch-run in the seventh inning last night resulted in a nothch in the hisotry, as Taguchi was thrown out trying to take two bases on a single to left."

That's bad-but at least the Dome is still around.  In fact, it was very useful during the Katrina disaster.  Thank you, John Rocker! (Wonder why he didn't visit any hurricane victims?)
