RIP: Darren McGavin

If you're like me and love watching the Dad put his leg lamp out every Christmas Eve (in "A Christmas Story") you have to miss this guy.  When he points at the Red Rider BB gun behind the cabinet (that his wife doesn't know he's hidden there) it gets me every time.

Genius.  Best line, he pokes his ratty hat back, gets in Vincenzo's face and shrieks "This NUT thinks he's a VAMPIRE!"  He'll be immortal in "A Christmas Story".

Anyone know why McGavin's role in "The Natural" was uncredited?

First thing I thought of.  I remember watching that the first time, and thinking, "Oh, OK, you're standard issue cops/investigator/prying journalist show."

Then I realized he was looking for a vampire.

BTW, RIP  Dennis Weaver, too.
