MinuteMaid Classic
« on: February 07, 2006, 11:35:51 am »
I intend to go down to Houston for Saturday evening's Rice-UT game, and I'm wondering if ordering tickets now would be prudent, or if waiting until I get to the park is ok.  (I'll be picking up my daughter and some yet-to-be-determined number of friends, so buying them now involves trying to guess that number.)  Is it all just general admission, sit where you want?  Since it looks like it will be cool Saturday night, does anybody know whether they close the roof for these things?
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

Sit where you want, dress warm cause even with the roof closed it will be chilly at night.
You see pal, that's who I am, and you're nothing. Nice guy, I don't give a shit. Good father, fuck you. Go home and play with your kids. You wanna work here, close. You think this is abuse? You think this is abuse, you cocksucker? You can't take this, how can you take the abuse you get on a sit?

Most tickets are general admission, so buying night of is not a problem.  When we went a few years ago, we took the opportunity to sit at different places in the park.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Also, individual game tickets for the Astros go on sale Friday.  Good chance to buy tickets while you're there.

I got diamond tickets for the Friday Night game.   Looking forward to it.  Was hoping to see Linclon vs McCullough, but UH is throwing Senior Matt Farrington instead.  Lincoln is going today and Sunday.

Heading out to UH to catch some baseball on this beautiful day.  Baseball is here!  Hip Hip Hooooray.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

The Astros seem to be keeping strangely mum about Fanfest.  They haven't released a schedule yet, at least not that I can find.

Thanks.  Yeah, I saw that linked from the College Classic page.  I wonder why no links on the front page.  Usually it's something they hype pretty heavily.  Maybe there's not as much enthusiasm for it in the organization this year?

Tulane's participation in the classic must have deflected attention away from fanfest this year.  Get giddy with excitement.

UH game yesterday.

Lincoln pitched well in front of about 20 scouts.    5 innings, 2 hits, 1 BB 0 runs 7 K's.   He also hit a walk off homer in the bottom of the 10th.  He was cruising around 91-93, and topped out at 96.

Lance Berkman was at the game too.

the sun out there was brutal, you can see why UH rarely plays day games.   It was so bad, pitchers were having a tough time seeing the balls the catchers were throwing back to them.

Also nice debut for a kid with one of the illustrious Texas 5A High School Baseball careers ever, Luis Flores, out of CC Moody.  He caught all 10 innings (including NINE different pitchers) and went 3-5 at the plate.    Luis will probably catch one or two games this weekend, and pitch in one of the others.

Luis lead CC Moody to the 5A State Championship 2 years ago, while going 15-0 with 161 strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA on the mound.  Don?t see many players face Texas 5A competition, and come away unscathed.  Pretty incredible feat.
