Well, I had a little hope we might sign him...was hoping for it so we'd be in a position to deal Wheeler, Qualls or Lidge if desperate for offense later in the year.

by my count, that puts 6 ex-Astros on the yanks staff between last year and next.

Dotel
Johnson
Franklin
Villone
Redding
Gordon

I heard they were weighing an offer to Tony McKight
Yay.

That's ridiculous.

They have, however tendered an offer to Mike Scott.
He breezed him, one more time!

2 million?? That seems like an actual bargain even with the uncertainly if you are paying near double figs for b.j. ryan.   I would have liked to have seen dotel on the stros just for leverage even

For that money, I'm sure the Astros offered and OD chose the dark side.

2 mil seems like an awful lot to me for only getting potentially half a season out of a reliever.  Of course, this is the same team that paid Jon Leiber to be on the shelf all season long for them in 2003.

Half a season?  He's supposed to be ready to pitch in April.
