How do you get descent seats for next year
« on: November 04, 2005, 12:04:11 pm »
I'm looking over the schedule for next year and there are a couple of weekend series that I want to come down for.  Last year I got tickets on-line for a couple of games the minute they went on sale.  The sections were good, 110 for a Cubs game and 122 for a Pirates game, but the seats were at the very back of the section.  For the Pirates game on the last row, so I had some kid standing behind me wacking  his thunder sticks in my ear, until the littl ol' lady beside me beat him down.

Does anyone know of a better way than "best available" on Astros.com, without paying scalper prices?

You might want to try and purchase by section instead of best available.

Do what I did when they set those out for a couple of Texas games.  Get there early and, without raising any suspicion, go around and cut a slit in as many sticks with your pocketknife as you can.  Unless they hand them out at the gate, in which case you're screwed I guess.

This past year there was a ticket exchange thing on Astros.com.  Season ticket holders sell their tickets that they aren't using on there.  If you plan ahead you can get good seats for near face value.  There's usually quite a few available, especially for weekday games.
