Official Tuesday Night HA Venue Thread
« on: October 25, 2005, 11:53:30 am »
There was talk of re-convening at Roeder's for tonight's game.  Myself and Mrs Limey are in, as well as Up Too Late and Mrs Up Too Late.  I suspect that Andy's out of circulation and some of you (lucky fuckers) have duckets.

Anyway, let's have a show of hands: who's coming with me...?

How packed was it the other night?  Would I be able to get there around 7:15 and find a seat?
DS Andy Wainwright: You do know there are more guns in the country than there are in the city.
DS Andy Cartwright: Everyone and their mums is packin' round here!
Nicholas Angel: Like who?
DS Andy Wainwright: Farmers.
Nicholas Angel: Who else?
DS Andy Cartwright: Farmers' mums.

It wasn't a problem Sunday.

I can't be there tonight.  I have to go inspect the rafters at MMPUS.

I'm guessing that folks going to the game will go to the game as early as possible, but it'd be nice to see folks before hand.

I'll be surveying that field down on Texas Ave as well. I plan to get there fairly early and watch some BP, but I still have to come up with one more ticket for my mom. I figure I can pick up an SRO for a couple hundred bucks before the game, but that is a very fluid situation.

I may be up for it, and I"m going to try to talk Mrs. Hawk into it too.  I'll know more later.

I'm not sure I'll be able to see the field from my seats.  Ya'll will all feel better though knowing that I'll have had a great chance to make sure the bolts on the rafters haven't loosened.

Oh, wait, the roof won't be closed.  I'm not going to be happy with Bud Selig when I catch a cold or pneumonia or some durned thing.  I'm susceptible, too, and Selig should know that.

I have a feeling that I'll be inspecting the top of the right field foul pole, for the most part. I'll make sure nobody trys to steal it.

Hi, everyone.  I'm the neighbor-of-the-proprietor-lady, a/k/a Cathy.  It will be great to have you back.  You're a fun crowd and it's nice to be around fellow Astros fan-atic-s.  As for how crowded it will be, it's hard to know.  Sometimes it is, but as someone noted, it wasn't a problem Sunday.  Somebody save a seat for the latecomer!  Go 'Stros.

Please have them order an extra keg of Shiner.  I've traced the problem from Sunday night, and that was clearly what pushed things over the edge.  That, and there were no dancing girls.  Try to round up a few of them too.

I figure I can pick up an SRO for a couple hundred bucks before the game, but that is a very fluid situation.

Please post here what the going rate for SRO's are tonight.  I'm kicking around taking my oldest son down and getting a couple SRO's.  I know that price will depend on tonight's outcome, but at least having a ballpark figure (pun semi-intended) would be nice.

The lowest on the internet is still in the $500 range for SRO.

Also, anyone know if the pay lots surrounding MMPUS have drastically increased thier prices.  Regular season was anywhere between $7 and $30.  Any different now?

Thanks,

I'll find out the going rate for SRO's when I go down there. I'm guessing $300-$600, but I don't have any inside information on the ticket scalping market. I will say that the closer you get to gametime, the cheaper it would be, and venture that you can probably get one not too far above face if you wait until the middle of the first inning.

Wow, that would be incredible.  Face value of SRO is $45.

If it's the first inning and a scalper still has a ticket in hand, the $45 doesn't mean much to him.

Hey, Andy.  We'll miss you.  Congratulations on the bambino.  Sandi says she has plenty of Shiner on tap, so no bad karma there!  I'm hoping to get to Roeders around 5:00.  (I hope I'm not delayed.  This job thing can be a pain.)  I'll do my best to save a couple of tables like last time as soon as I get there.

Unless there are 10000 other folks around the ballpark with the same bright idea of buying tix after the game starts.  Seems like a pretty likely scenario to me.  Be prepared for that.

It wasn't packed.  If it weren't for our group it would have looked almost empty.  Everyone in there had a seat.  Astrobrat was a real sweety and saved us three tables on Sunday.  But being a home game, recond people will want to be out celebrating with others as we show the White Sox how we do things here in Texas.  So tonight might be a bit busy.  Unfortunately, Ray and I won't be able to get there until maybe 6:30 due to his car in the shop getting the front bumper put back on.  How did that happen?  We'll get there as fast as we can.

Yes, dear.
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

Also, anyone know if the pay lots surrounding MMPUS have drastically increased thier prices. Regular season was anywhere between $7 and $30. Any different now?

Make friends with someone who works in the Chase Tower.  It is 75 floors, you probably know at least one.

Borrow their parking card.  Park for free.
