World Series, Game Two ? Astros at White Sox

By Craig the Bastard

The Astros had plenty of chances to win Game One, but Joe ?Dirt? Crede always seemed to be standing right in the fucking way. Losing our starter after two innings also sucked, though Clemens wasn?t too sharp anyway.

Still, the Sox look beatable, and the Astros can even it up today and bring the Series home to Houston. And we?ve got to have these wins when Pettitte and Oswalt pitch, especially if Roger can?t come back at full strength.

When:
Sunday, October 23, 6:30 p.m. CDT ? Fox

Where: U.S. Cellular Field

Well it looks bone-ass cold there, but hey, it?s October. Too bad about Roger?s hamstring, but not a surprise, I guess. And it couldn?t have helped when Asswipe Pierzynski bailed out halfway through a pitch.

The Weather Channel says there?s a 60% chance of rain in Chicago for Game Two, with a temperature in the 40s. So it?ll be even colder and shittier than last night.

Matchup

Andy Pettitte (17-9, 2.39 regular season) v. Mark Buehrle (16-8, 3.12 regular season)

Starin? Andy is 10-7 lifetime against the White Sox. Active Sox are 31-for-107 against him, including homers from Juan Uribe and Paul Konerko. Several White Sox have good stats against Pettitte, including Konerko (9-for-23, .391, with 7 RBIs), Jermaine Dye (6-for-18, .333, four doubles, and Asswipe Pierzynski (4-for-11, .364).

Only three Astros have ever faced Buehrle before ? Mike Lamb is 1-for-3, Palmeiro is 0-for-1, and Ausmus is 1-for-1 with a double.

Scouting report says Buehrle, a lefty, works fast and throws a lot of strikes. He pitches inside a lot and has a good move to first. He also led the AL with more than 236 innings pitched this year.

Players to Watch:

? Joe Dirt is a major pain in the ass. He?s like David Eckstein with an arm. And power.

? Willy looked good at the plate in Game One, but somebody?s got to follow up those leadoff doubles.

? Seems like Ozzie Guillen may have a tendency to leave his starters in too long, but that may not be such a bad thing, considering how well their pen shut down the Astros last night.

Other shit

? Russ Springer says Dan Wheeler has been nicknamed The Wrecking Ball because he was pitching when the last out was recorded at Busch.

? Hey Fox, how about you limit the fucking dugout conversations to between innings or between batters? Because, you know, you might step all over the game-winning hit or something.

? I noticed that they?re finally pronouncing Biggio?s name correctly. I guess nobody bothers to ask how to say it until you make it to the World Series.

? If Fox is going to plant its stars in the crowd and pimp their shows, then someone from Arrested Development needs to show up in Houston. Bob Loblaw, you are hereby summoned to appear.
