VB posted this question on C&G, but I though I'd ask here:

What are the details behind the Danny Klassen trade? In a game recap last week, the Austin American-Statesman said we acquired him from the Cubs in an April 3 trade, but I can't find anything about the trade details.

How's Buckholtz's recovery going (was it "dead arm)? Has he completely fallen off the table as a top propect?

He's still recovering from surgery.  He missed his previous start because of a "sore shoulder."  He started last night and gave up 1 run in 4 innings though he allowed 5 walks and 3 hits.  He got several GIDP's to get out of 3 innings.  He's still considered a good prospect but we'll have to see how he progresses from his injury.

A) MLB.com has a note about it as well.

B) This falls under the who really cares category.  Seuss isn't really a prospect.  I would not be surprised if the Astros released him soon.

C) If he is released, I will be interested to see who his replacement would be.

Didn't the Astros him for Dan Wheeler last year from the Mets?

Yes, and every Mets fan I heard from last year did not really understand the Mets' thinking behind the trade, not that they counted Wheeler as a huge loss.

Josh Anderson and Hunter Pence - what's the word on these guys defensively? And at the rate he's raking right now, is it likely that Anderson will get called up to RR soon? I know they promoted him midseason last year...

Also, is the Royce Huffman catching experiment still ongoing? Or did the acquisition of Quintero put a halt to that?

Thanks in advance.

Anderson is probably about a rung below Taveras.  He's a little more reckless and slightly less fast.  But still very good.

Pence is still working on his.  He's got the speed to play center but is probably a left-fielder long-term.  His arm is below average.

He may get a mid-season call-up, but I doubt it.  His April has been very good but let's see if he can sustain it.  The AAA outfielders are serving as backups to the outfield in Houston.  Any of them could get called up.  Beyond that when Berkman returns we'll have to see if Scott gets sent down.  Pence is more likely to get a mid-season call-up than Anderson, IMO.

Huffman caught over the weekend.  In fact Quintero hasn't caught since Thursday.

I haven't been there, but I got some info from someone who has seen how the field plays.

The wind almost always blows out to left, so if a big pop fly is hit, the wind takes care of the rest. Very rarely does it blow to right but it does happen. Basically anything hit to center-rightcenter-right gets caught, especially with the Hooks current outfield. The infield is smooth and the grass is short, so balls dont scoot through the infield but it plays like a normal infield.

It sounded a bit like MMPUS to me.

That might be a big advantage for the youngsters, as in home field advantage, to have the minor league parks similar to the ML park. Put up a big wall in left, with a few nooks and crannys here and there. Okay, scratch the freakin' hill and flagpole in center...

Well, not quite.  It doesn't have the "quirks" MMPUS does, but it sounds like the ball carries in Corpus as it does in MMPUS.

I would think that would be just as helpful.  Pitchers get an idea of how the ball will carry at MMPUS before arriving in the bigs.  Sort of accelerating the learning curve, I guess.

This guys seems to be having a good season, although it's a follow up in Lexington.  His name has never really been brought up in 3B propsects discussions, and I'm guessing that's due to defense.  Can anyone add to what his role maybe within the org in a season or two?

Actually he has been mentioned in some of the older MO's.  You can go to that section and read stuff from 02 and 03 to find mention of Torres.  Saul is 23 a bit old for the Sally League.  His main problem has been that until this season his bat has been underwhelming.  If you're not a great defender you've got to really tatoo the baseball.  We'd like to see how he does over the long-term.  I'd guess though that if he can sustain his level of hitting for half the season he could get a call up to Salem.  His offense will dictate how far he advances in the org.

I don't know about their defense but I can tell you both of them are going to get a mid-season callup if they continue playing like this. Pence is someone to really get excited about if he keeps on progressing.

Slow down there chief, Pence hasn't even played above A-ball yet.  Try and temper that excitement a bit...at least until he plays well (and stays healthy) into AA.

I'm sitting here today thinking Anderson won't get called up.  The outfielders at RR are insurance against problems with the outfielders in Houston.  Anderson doesn't fit that.  Besides, IMO, the jump from AA to AAA isn't as big as jumps from low-A to high-A and A to AA.

I concur on Pence except to say that, IMO, he's above the Sally League and ought to be in the Carolina League soon.  Part of me expected him to get called up as soon as Seuss was suspended.  I also expect him to smack Carolina League pitching around pretty good.  I've heard reports that Pence has a solid head on his shoulders which bodes well for him as he moves up the ladder.
