Get your Worrell button ready. TV announcers for games 1-2 are Kenny Albert, Joe Girardi, and.... AJ Fuckhead.

I know it is an annual tradition to bitch about the start times of games, but this is fucking ridiculous. There are only two games on Saturday, there's no need to have one starting after 8:00. Most elementary school age kids will only be able to watch just a few innings of the first two games of the series at most.

They manufactured their own problem by putting both Saturday games back-to-back on FS1.  And when Yankees/Twins inevitably runs long, I'm sure they'll delay switching over to our game.

I can deal with the f'd up start times, but if they delay our game I will absolutely loose my shit!

That would be beyond the pale. They have got to find a way to do better than that. Like switching to the later game in the territories of the two teams. Or putting the late game on an alternate FOX network until the big FOX can pick it up. But since it is already on FOX1 I suppose there isn't an alternate network and it is a college football gameday. This has the possibility of being really fucked up.

I mute the tv and pickup the Astros radio broadcast. You have to synch it up because tv is ahead of radio but that is easy with the delay tv button.

I've got Sling for TV, but apparently they're in a dispute with Fox, so I likely won't be able to see the games on FS1.

Any recommendations on the cheapest/best alternative for watching Fox channels for the next month?

I quit sling and moved to Youtube TV.  I would at least use the free week during this round of the playoffs.

YouTube TV, Fubo, HULU, etc. all seem to offer a free week. Try them all and then choose your favorite. I’m using FUBO TV after trying several providers, mainly because of ATT SportsNet is only on my it. Unless I’m mistaken

-The Rays won four out of seven games against Houston in 2019.
-The Astros outscored the Rays 40-27 in 2019.
-Tampa won three of those four games to open the 2019 season.
-The Astros scored nine runs in those four games, and scored four runs in the last three games of that opening series combined.
-The second HOU/TBR series was Aug 27-29. Houston won 15-1, won 8-6, and lost 9-8.
-The Astros are 5-12 at Tropicana Field since the beginning of the 2015 season. They're 2-6 in 2018-2019.

Buckle up, folks. Tampa is a good baseball team. Their bullpen is purportedly one of the best in MLs so getting runs early is key.

I'd like to think it'll be 2017 all over again, when the Astros were warned before all three series the it was crucial they score early because their opponent possessed a shutdown bullpen.  The Astros proceeded to shred all three bullpens, including the three vaunted closers.

As luck would have it, my company is upgrading its IT this weekend, and so we're shut down for the day.  I will be at Johnny McIlroy's watching the game if anyone cares to join me.

Point of order:  wear my WS Game #7 shirt, or save that powerful juju for later?

I have the same outfit I wore to all home games in the 2017 post season.  I did include a Springer jersey today.  I even have the same necklace on.

That was kind of my point.  Starter/reliever mindset and pitching style is just so different.  Even with Peacock and Devo struggling a bit, they know the plan.  Miley, not so much.  Maybe he'll be a pleasant surprise.

I am wondering if the plan is to start Miley in Game 4 then flip to Urquidy if Miley starts to implode again.  And just hope that James, Rondon and Smith can fill the gaps in any pre-7th inning relief work that is necessary.

I could see that if it's 2-1 Astros, of course. Verlander on 3-days rest if it's elimination.

That FS1 pregame show was hideous. Truth be told,  I only saw the last segment but it was almost impossible to endure.

FWIW, I'm going with a generic Astros shirt today.  Saving my Game #7 shirt for must-win games.

My wife and I have both lost a lot of weight this year, and we can fit into our old Larry Dierker Hawaiian shirts. So we're going old-school.

I have the same outfit I wore to all home games in the 2017 post season.  I did include a Springer jersey today.  I even have the same necklace on.

Counting on a lot of strikeouts from Cole and not many balls hit to RF, I guess.

Tucker showed some pretty good defense after his call up. Looks like he covers a lot of ground and has a better than average arm.

I'm hoping he shows good defense tonight!

Both my kids are in fall sports so I haven't been able to watch many games since his callup. I was able to take the fam to see the Sept 6 game against the Mariners. Tucker pulled in a leaping catching over his shoulder and a sliding catch. The fam was impressed. I wasn't.

Those barely catches were more dramatic than necessary. Both catches he took a loopy route to the ball. Glad he pulled them off for the out but it wasn't pretty outfield defense.

Judging by the score, it was a group effort. Tomorrow, I will not be an idiot and endeavor to remember whether the Astros are playing the early game and or the late game and actually watch the game.

The Yankees aren't better than us, but they're better now than they were most of the year and they're better than people have been giving them credit for. If we're lucky enough to face them again this year it's going to be intense.

Great point.  If Severino is healthy, he's an ace, and the Yankees bully is really only missing Betances. The Yankees hitters grind you by not swinging at bad pitches very often. Brett Gardner is still a very tough out, particularly in the playoffs. If we're lucky enough to win the Tampa Bay series, a series with the Yankees will be epic.

I like it. Splits up the lefties by having two rightys between each one. Forces Cash to really pick his spots when using his lefties

Yep. Hinch called it his "most balanced lineup" anticipating having to work through 5 to 10 opposing pitchers.

Curious stats time:

The Astros are 1-5 at the Trop.
The D-Rays are 1-4 at MMP

In all three decided divisional series, the home team lost its elimination game.

More curious stats, this time about the impact of "possible" pitch tipping in Game #5

AB      R        H   RBI   LOB   Avg
1     33     6       9       4       8     0.273
2     34     3     10       3       8     0.294
3     35     3       7       3       7     0.200
4     31     1       6       1       5     0.194
5     32     6       8       6       4     0.250
    165     19     40     17     32    0.242

Game #5 stats - 1st six batters (5 for 6, a 2B, 4 runs - .833 Avg);
Game #5 Stats - rest of the game (3 for 26, 2 HR, 2 runs - .115 Avg)

Game #2 - #5 stats  - 31 for 132, 13 runs - .235 Avg
Game #2 - #5 stats (excluding the 1st six AB's) 26 for 129, 9 runs, .206 Avg)

Pure conjecture, but based on their anemic hitting - essentially thru the last five games (excluding the tipping runs) - how likely would it be that the Astros have still playing today?

Kudos to whoever discovered the pitch tipping, to the batters that cashed in on those pitches, and to the pitchers have been crucial to the Astros getting to the ALCS!
Nothing worthwhile comes without pain, ask any Astros fan.
