Postseason tickets
« on: September 22, 2019, 11:40:29 am »
I got an email from the front office this morning informing me that I"ve been selected for an opportunity to purchase ALDS tickets. Starts Tuesday morning at 9am. Not having done this before, what should I expect? Is it just a free-for-all on the web site?
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

Yes. Get there early.

In the mean time, hope the Astros make the ALDS.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Returning my '98 NLCS tickets is possibly my low point in Astros fandom.
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

Hopes so high,  then brought so low.

Still causes a pit in my stomach.

Now need one more win to ensure they have home field in at least the ALDS. Keep the foot down.

Had tickets for me and my dad for Game 5 in 2005...

Same for me and my wife although we did make it to the game 4 loss as well.  My rationale back then was to go with games 4 & 5 versus 3 & 4 because there was an outside chance of them winning at home and us being there.  Bad move on my part.  Fast forward to 2017, and I make the same decision, this time with my entire family.  I remember thinking early in game 5, with the Stros down 4-0 to Clayton Kershaw...."Damn it, I screwed this up again.  Kids missed at least seeing a win in game 3, saw a loss in game 4 and now game 5 ain't looking too good either."

Boy was I wrong...best decision I ever made.  Game 5 will go down as one of the all-timers, and we were there!  There were many great moments in that game, but I still get goose bumps thinking about Altuve's homer.  That's the one that really sticks out to me for some reason.  Our seats were behind the plate (one row from the top), and from that vantage point I remember that I hoped his hit would at least have enough juice to carry up the wall for a double.  When it landed by the pump I was stunned....and MM went bonkers!

Sorry to go on a rant.  Once I started typing I couldn't help myself.

We were up there on the top row for game 2 of the 2001 NLDS.  Every fly ball felt like a homer or a pop up.  In that game they were all pop ups.

Well, we scored tickets for games 1 and 2, but I'll be watching from a new vantage point: way up at the top out on the right field line.

Was that the Glavine start? *shuddering*

Yep.  And who can forget the Astros' game 2 starter, the one, the only... Dave Mlicki.

How far we've come.
