Mariners @ Astros, September 7, 2019

Saturday Night Special
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

NY clobbering Boston 5-0 in the 9th.

Cle/Minn just underway.

Det/Oak will start later.

Bos/Cle/Det all helped the Astros last night.

That was a bad route by Reddick.  He tried to cut the ball off, but it got past him and he had to chase it to the wall.

No, the ball clearly hit the wall and bounced over.  It's a double.  By rule.

No, it was called a double from the start.  It was a pretty clear play, cut and dried rule.  Not sure what the hubbub was about.

Attaboy Josh.

And nice throw Smith.   Make sure the dugout is paying attention.

B7:

Tucker, pinch hitting for Marisnick, lines the first pitch off the LF wall, it bounces up and it goes over the wall...Hinch challenging, on one knows why, it's a clear rule book double...taking a long time for a clear call...yep, it's a double
Wild pitch, Tucker to 3B
Reddick flies out F8, Tucker tags and scores on the sac fly
Altuve flies out F8...Kalas nearly shits his pants
Brantley strikes out swinging

Astros take a 2-1 lead
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

T8:

James in for the Astros

Shed grounds out 6-3
Lopes doubles off the RCF wall
Gordon grounds to 3B, Toro knocks it down, has no chance to get Gordon, but throws it anyway and it's wild...Diaz dives and keeps in on the infield, but Lopes to 3B on the single and TE5
Gordon easily takes 2B without a throw
Moore...infield now has to come in...strikes out swinging
Smith PONCHE!!!

James strands runners at 2B and 3B...Astros lead 2-1

That was a pretty solid pitch.

Smith was completely overmatched.  Two fastballs at 97 then drop the hammer.

I know it's not the question they were asking,  but Yuli deserves to be mentioned along with Brantley and Bregman as this team's offensive MVP.

Kallas seems like a nice enough fella. But holy shit his depth perception is on par with the President’s hurricane forecasting
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

The radio guys are just as bad in the opposite direction. Ford never has a clue about how far a ball is going. Sparks either. Every blast is described as “that is hit pretty well.” He seems genuinely surprised when a ball goes out.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.
